What kind of fight approach would Khamzat take, a more stand-up fight? I guarantee a high level jiujitsu guy like RDR wouldn't be held in a crucifix for 25 minutes.

I think it would be more of an MMA-fight than vs Dricus.

RDR may be coming off a win over a bigger name but I think Anthony Hernandez is coming off a more dominant & statement making win. On the slim chance Chimaev turns back around for the Abu Dhabi card at the end of October I hope Hernandez gets the shot at him.

Otherwise, if Chimaev isn't fighting until next year he should face the Imavov vs Borralho winner.

He better get back in there by FEB or Ramadan will keep him out until summer.

I actually think Abu-Dhabi vs RDR is very possible. PPV points are going away and its Khamzat's opportunity to cash in vs a slow, older, unathletic #1 contender. And Dana seemed genuinely into the idea in the post-fight presser.

On top of that, Abu-Dhabi pays a shit ton of money for their cards and they typically are full of star power; ie Ilia, Max, Khamzat, Rob last year. No offense to Tom but he's not a big draw yet by any means, and Gane's stock is arguably as low as its been since he joined the UFC.

Abu-Dhabi definitely wants it, Khamzat seems like he truly wants it, and RDR will absolutely take it. Hernandez should on standby in case either man falls out.

Makes perfect sense for Khamzat. He took virtually no damage in the fight with DDP, and would do well to stay active and re-ignite the fanbase after his somewhat polarizing method of victory left a portion of it 'unsatisfied' (plus, he claims to want money, so why sit around and wait for the Imavov-Caio winner?). Plus, why let RDR have more time to specifically prepare for him? Knock him off now, with him recently coming off a tough fight.

Yep, RDR probably could use more time off to recover and to prepare for a very different fight than it would have been had DDP remained champ...but that is not Khamzat or the UFC's problem though.

UFC will probably go to RDR and offer Abu Dhabi as his opportunity to bypass competing with the Imavov-Caio winner for a shot...if he doesn't take it, they will say he will have to fight again to *maybe* get a title shot afterwards. If he turns it down, Fluffy is there...and while Costa clearly doesn't deserve a shot right now, the UFC loves having options for leverage.

If Khamzat wants his Abu Dhabi fight, he will get it...and I would be very surprised if RDR turns it down if it is offered to him.

RDR is a serious problem for him, on the mat. He's even bigger than DDP, but has great grappling and JJB. Both have average striking.

Fluffy, RDR, Imavov, Caillou... I want to see these fights !

RDR is good, MUCH better than his initial sloppy stinker vs Meerschaert showed. (I was like "Ugh, another guy that's good and comes to the UFC and forgets how to fight".) But as good a grappler as he is, he won't have answers for Khamzat. You can't win against a grappler as talented as Khamzat playing guard. He's not just some really gifted wrestler. He's a brilliant all around grappler that will be in front of RDR in most transitions and will either keep top control or advance if RDR gets aggressive with his guard.

If RDR's gameplan is to try and outgrapple Khamzat from off of his back that just ain't gonna work and we all know that.

I think going 5 rounds like that gave Khamzat a lot of confidence vs anyone in the division.

RDR will do some goofy shit, look like Lankey Kong in there and probably get throughly dominated. RDR is good but his style is to flow and be awkward, we just saw what Khamzat does to “awkward” guys; RDR isn’t efficient enough to defeat Khamzat.

If they do RDR next, that really screws Fluffy. Because no way could you deny the winner of Caio/Imavov next after RDR. Which I guess you'd then have Fluffy vs DDP? And if Fluffy wins that he gets next shot?

I guess we see if they'll turn Khamzat around that quickly. Can't blame Khamzat for wanting to be super active, but it Jackson up the plan of Caio/Imavov winner next. Because we could have RDR/Fluffy for the next shot after that.

For the quick turnaround Khamzat wants this is the only fight that makes sense.

Costa can't get a shot off Kopylov. A title shot off Dolidze for Fluffy isn't a good look despite the long streak. Caio and Imavov makes too much sense to be scrapped.

RDR is the only one that makes sense. He actually has enough grappling know how that kamzhat wont engage, just like gilbert burns.

then it's RDR landing those fucking knees all night, and if he gets taken down, so what guard time. kamzaht dont want none of that shit. itll turn into a stand up battle, with occasional takedowns, and I see RDR doing more damage.
