Cheyanne Buys: “I’ve been so broke my whole life because of this sport!”

Lol. Almost no effect.

It ended the fucking fight you numpty.

No it didn't. She got up like the undertaker from that kick immediately. Then she got put in a bad spot she does not have the skills to get out of. The latter is what ended the fight.

Zero power. Zero skills.

She was mostly knocked out from the headkick. The rest was elementary.

Have you ever watched MMA before?

It had no effect. She got up immediately without losing a step and was never at any point "knocked out". LOL

WMMA is not MMA. Get back in your hole.

Lol. Not my fault you don't know what you are watching.

I would love to see you take that exact same kick and tell me it had no effect.

As I said in another thread, Buys isn’t broke because of the sport, she’s broke because of poor life choices.
1. She uprooted and moved to South Africa to fight in EFC, but primarily because she met JP Buys and married him. WTF moves to S Africa?
2. When EFC went dead, and she realized S. Africa is an absolute shit hole and only getting worse, she then uprooted to move back to the U.S.
3. She’s barely back in the U.S. when she drops everything to move back from Louisiana to where whe originally was in Las Vegas, to train with Miesha Tate. Same Miesha Tate who was her manager, who left Cheyanne high and dry to take the VP position with ONE Championship.
4 that’s not even mentioning that becoming a pro fighter is just a bad life choice in general.

I would feel bad for her if she wasn’t so arrogant and generally unlikable.
What does this have to do with the UFC? She just made her UFC debut 4 months ago and got paid like $75k for her first win.

And what does her husband do where he's been relying on his wife to be the breadwinner as a cagefighter in regional promotions?

I think UFC should be paid more, and to that end I think UFC should unionize.

But this lady's plight is not an example of UFC malfeasance. She's been in the UFC less than a year and has massively improved her financial situation.

Resorting to sex work is an admittance of failure
I wouldnt call it sex work, because you're just not making physical contact with any of those skanks on Onlyfans, it's just a con scheme a lot of apes that love to empty their wallets, when they can just watch naked women on the regular pornsites.

I seriously don't see the logic. It's a contract she signed. If that contract sucks then it means she made a bad decision. Women sports simply pays shit. It is what it is.
It's just that i am of the opinion that fighters should be paid better sherbro, nothing more, nothing less.

Name another example where you can terminate a contract when the other party isn’t in breach and suffer zero damages, yet the other party can under no circumstances terminate the contract? I’m not a lawyer obviously, but that’s the definition of one sided.
They can only cut them based on the terms of the contract.

I have a couple thoughts on her statement and her financial situation.

First, she stated her bank account was overdrawn. She also said her husband told her to put the money in her savings. Sounds to me like she is a bit impulsive and a degenerate with her money. She hasnt been taught how to manage and budget, and stick to her budget. Also sounds like her husband keeps their money separate because her doesnt trust her spending habits. The fact that she mentioned what her husband told her to do with the money is very telling. This is nothing new with fighters. Fighters, by nature, are very impulsive. That's why they are fighters.

Secondly, this is her second fight in the ufc. If she continues to win and build momentum, she will get pay raises and her financial situation will become less and less of an issue, if she can be responsible with it.

They aren't fully standardized but it's close because title challengers and champions (new ones) get a standard purse. 350k for the former, 500k for the latter if I recall. Essetnially, the UFC has so much monopsony power they unintentionally mostly eliminated the gender wage gap in the UFC.

It is prostitution

I agree, it is all but impossible to make a living on the regional scene which is why some people coming into UFC have been fighting so regularly. The low pay just means you have to fight more.

But to be fair 10K + 10K for win for the co-main event is pretty pathetic. That is like 2 months pay for a decent paying job and you have all the extra costs with being a fighter like paying for camp. If she does the standard UFC fight twice a year that is only 40K a year. Not enough to live on let alone set yourself up for a life outside of fighting.
You’re right. At the lower levels the fighters I have heard talk about it get approximately 1/3 of their purse.
1/3 immediately off the top for taxes.
1/3 for expenses (gym, coaches, health)
1/3 for living on.

And what does her husband do where he's been relying on his wife to be the breadwinner as a cagefighter in regional promotions?

Her husband is also a UFC fighter.

They both made their UFC debuts on the same card back in March. He got brutally KOd, and then later on she got held in nothing but a headlock for three rounds by a little Mexican girl and lost by decision.

It's a dumbass career move to get hit in the head for a living. She'd be way more financially secure as a receptionist

She should get a side job. Jinh Yu Frey, who beat de Paula before Buys did and was actually an Invicta champion, still works in the medical industry. People, fans and fighters alike, can cry about fighters having to keep side jobs, but until the fighters do something about it as a whole, that’s the reality. They chose to get punched in the head for a living.

Her fight got elevated to c-main event like 3 hours before the event started. She didn’t have to do anything for it.

Been following her for a while. I can tell you it never crossed her mind.

Honestly, she doesn’t even belong in the UFC, but the UFC owes ESPN content, and the DWCS is that content, and part of the show means signing fighters, so here she is.

He pulled it out of his ass. Nobody is payed equally in the UFC. Amanda Nunes is a 2 division champion, and makes less than some HW non champs.

That’s the big question. She made more in 2 fights with the UFC than the rest of her (very short) career combined.

Ooof. I know those feels. Especially the last few days before the 1st and 15th.

Definitely.

10/10 for multiple replies.
