I was sympathetic to the cause of Chechnya/Ingush originally, but the mass killings of civilians, beheading videos, and black AQ flags (plus them showing up in Afghan/Iraq to fight US soldiers) made me not really give a hoot.
Dzhokhar was really one on a million man, a great man of our age, great leader and a patriot of his Homeland, truly united our people on a way to freedom,and gave his life for it,but that doesn't mean Dokku was some lowlife criminal that have been last man standing, his bravery on the battlefield, was acknowledged in the first war, in the very beginning, and since then he never took a step back in his way of life, and his fight for freedom. He may be accused in radicalization yes, but the ones accusing him, did they try to stop Russia's destruction of Chechnya? When our nation was crying out to the whole world, nobody did shit, and nobody tried to help us(I am speaking of countries and governments), they just sold our fate, for some political games with Russia, and there's no way you can be surprised with that radicalization. When you are left alone, fighting biggest and one of the most powerful countries at the time, with population almost 130-150 times greater than yours, with better weaponry, there's no way you won't become radical.
As for the gaining freedom in 1996, the problem was that nation was not ready for it, we took our home, took our freedom from the Russians with death, blood and sacrifices, but we were not ready to use that freedom right. And many of the Russian special force agents in Chechnya did everything they could to establish a non-human barbaric image of Chechen people in the eyes of the whole world( beheadings of international organization workers and etc), just like they do in Russia right now, making all Ukranians look like nazi-jewish-russianhating-animals)))) same tactics-same lies, the KGB never changes, even if you call it FSB) and that works with militia, now being called police(милиция-полиция

All that radical, extremist and radical things that you didn't like in Chechen resistance, was not fault of Chechnya alone, all we wanted was freedom and independence, and when Russia started answering us with tanks and bombs, we took weapons in our arms and started to fight for it, there was no extremist in the first war, you can find videos of Chechen leaders releasing Russian soldiers to their mothers , just if they swear that they won't ever fight against Chechen people, without any money, or anything. Where did you see something like that? And you can find that video on YouTube if you want. And did anyone help Chechnya and stopped Russia then? Nope, nobody did anything. That's why radicalization came when Chechnya was devastated of the two wars, when we lost 200000 people with almost 40000 of them children killed.
Nobody gave a fuck when schools were bombed in Chechnya, but when Basaevs men took a Beslan school in hostages with only one demand "to stop the war in Chechnya"(actually that was their main demand, also they demanded presidents of Ingushetia and Ossetia to come into that school, which they didn't), but with all that, Chechen president(at the time) Maskhadov made a statement, that he did not know about this operation, and he will come to that school himself and release all the hostages,on the same day that school was stormed by Russian troops, and you know what happened next.
Nobody says a word about such things, because of Russian propaganda machine, and anyone who knows how they describe situation in Ukraine on Russian TV, will understand what I'm saying.
