This seems fishy. I remember being in a BJJ facility and your belt ranking started at 16. Anything before that was just child belts. You needed 2 years to become a blue belt, another 2 for a purple and then within the next 3-5 years you get your black belt.

Depends how good you are. The Ruotolo bro’s started training at age 3 and were purple belts by 17 and are now brown belts closing in on black.
