As I already said, they don't care. At least the ones I know don't and that goes for most slurs, racial or otherwise. Most people have thicker skin than the woke crowd. In fact, they have slurs of their own.

If I am called a cocksucker I take it as an insult. I am a straight man. Perhaps you are and you aren’t offended. Some gay men when called a cocksucker will feel offended and some will smile. Basically the word along with the word fa-goat are universal insults that will be taken offensively or not regardless of sexual preference. So basically saying things like these terms have no place in society is like saying insults have no place in society or giving them far greater weight than an insult is nonsensical and makes me chuckle harder when I hear them

Oh' bullshit. For instance, fat kids get it way worse, as they're not a protected class. They're a walking punchline in any given elementary/high school. It would also differ from place to place. Bible belt country, yeah, you don't want to be gay there. However, you don't want to be a fat kid, or a socially awkward dork ANYWHERE. Being bullied is not some wholly unique thing for gay people, and many non-gay kids get it way worse quite regularly, and there are no "safe spaces" for them to run to.

Plenty of people do care. I don't think you know a massive cross section of the gay community.

Am I offended personally? No. Do I think he should be fired? No. Do I think a quick apology was in order? Yes.

I can see a bunch of stupid articles from the daily mail or something coming out saying:

“Does the UFC hate the LGBTQIA+ community? Fighters throw out homophobic slurs with no repercussions from UFC president Dana White”
 
I don't think anyone even got offended. Those Aussies throw around the c word everyday whereas here that would get you a bunch of Reeeeee's. They are ok.
