Chambering the Knee?

I agree with most of the posts that state that there is a time for both types of kicks. I've been in TKD for 28 years (not the WTF/Olympic crap). Thought I would add that chambered kicks are great for changing up the timing. Not only do you delay your opponent knowing where the kick is going you can also alter the time of its completion. Once the MT kick is started there is little way to change the timing.

Also, the chambered kick requires less commitment of balance. You can change up the kick and your body direction up until the kick is fired.

As stated by others, this really works well in TKD tournament competition but it does have its place in MMA.
 
The more you are exposed to the better a fighter you are going to be. Chambered kicks can be useful to trip a fighter who has little experience with them.

Perfectly written. It seems to be a nuance that is lost by many. Every technique thrown does not have to smash. If you can disrupt the fighter, you are facing a lesser opponent.
