Challenge to Maximus

Yeah Eddie did well though I don't think he managed to land a single strike that wasn't to the back of the head in the sequence that dropped him or the finishing sequence.

Since they were both such great Strength athletes, which one do we count as the all technique guy? You also were using Pudz as an a positive example in the other thread. Did he go from being an example of Strength leading to success in MMA, to no longer leading to success in the space of 48 hours?
No I said that technique was not as important as athleticism which we see on full display in the video posted.

Eddie initially rocks him with a straight punch down the middle when Pudz throws a crappy looping shot.

Looks to me like he learnt something during all that boxing training. Good thing he did that technique work.

I definitely will agree though that he managed to defend that technique with pure power.

The finish was wild and should have resulted in a DQ, but that's shady MMA orgs for you.

Yea it took just decades of technique practice to throw a straight punch backed by many hours of strongman training. Do you think that the strongman training may have helped him punch hard just a little bit? Or do you think Eddie would be a better fighter if had never strength trained to become the strongest man in the world. Maybe you are on to something. Martial artists should strength train to become better but rather they should be like a karate kid wanna be and straight punch a target with he exact same motion for 20,000 reps per day.

entirely your call. Is that a conditional agreement or no?
How far from Austin are you? You are basically offering to pay for a training trip. I wish you had challenged me a week or so ago. I have been on holiday for the last couple weeks.

Who in their right mind wouldn't take a near all expenses paid trip across the world? The backyard fight is a bit weird, but it's just like training in Thailand against gym heroes I guess. Any chance you will pay to renew my passport haha? I could get a fully paid holiday out of telling someone to learn to kickbox to get better at kickboxing.

Don't get me wrong, I 100% don't believe you would back that up in the slightest, but hell yeah I would fly to the US if all I have to do is fight some random person. I do it in the gym for free.

I think Eddie would be better if he put all the effort he did into MMA as opposed to deadlifting 500kg+
Mass moves mass and that transfers to power, but the guy is so big he can't even compete in the sport.
As he showed in his own videos Aspinall who isn't even half as strong as him, was able to manhandle him.

Yea im willing to your expenses. I know people in Austin to. I know people all over this state since my family basically formed the state. It may seem like it will be holiday right now to you. I wont pay your medical bills in the event of injury. I will call an ambulance for you though.

There is of course a minimum barrier to entry for strength to the best heavyweight in the world vs pudz. Pudz was able to KO all of those guys because he was the better athlete the same as Eddie hall is the better athlete in this fight. If Lebron James had chosen to focus on MMA fighting what do you think would happen? The best athletes dont fight in mma they play high paying sports. There aren't many fighters making Conor mcregor money.

Haha nah I just want to know so I can plan a training trip after. I don't know anyone well over there.

Don't call me an Ambulance, I couldn't afford it in the US.

Well atleast it's more realistic than getting on Karate Combat.

I was going to tee us up to fight in Buhurt when you said I could pick the ruleset and the location before you changed your mind on that. I have always wanted to try it and this whole thing may as well be even more ridiculous.

Pudz was fighting people that had lesser abilities than him AND he was stronger. Pudz lost to the guy with the better hands AND got bitch tossed.

Lebron James can't make it through a game without cramping... he isn't going to be successful at MMA because he can jump high and throw a ball.

We have seen plenty of high level athletes cross over and have limited success in MMA.

No we haven't. Other sports funnels their athletes starting in youth through youth leagues, high schools, colleges. There is no youth funnel for MMA as it is a new sport. The best athletes are going to be the best regardless of the sport they play provided it isn't some esoteric thing like curling or horse jockey. The best athletes are good competitors and would be great at anything they chose it has nothing to do with his ability to jump high or shoot a ball although it helps. The guy with the highest recorded vertical jump in the NFL combine couldn't play football worth a lick and never even made a team. You seem to like Joe Rogan although I disagree with a majority of his beliefs about fighting he is not wrong about his opinion on Lebron James. If somebody like Greg Hardy didnt play football his entire life and focused on martial arts he would have been a champion.

You said you were done with this in the other thread.

So your argument is that Greg Hardy didn;t play football but focused on getter better at martial arts he would have been champion? Was he not focusing on being a good athlete in the NFL? Surely they just took 5 mins and taught him how to punch?

That is the argument yes. Do you realize how hard it is to make an NFL roster? A monkey or a child can learn how to play football. Children play football in their yards all over the world. It takes a tremendous amount of athletic talent to be among the best people who participate in in the sport of football in the world as adults.

In the world? It's primarily a US based sport. America isn't the world. They need 53 people on the team just to play with most people being pure specialists in their positions.

NFL isn't the sport I would choose to say someone is an amazing athlete. The average play is 35-40 seconds before they need a break.

You are absolutely ludacris if you think an nfl athlete is not one of the best athletes in the world. NFL aside use any major sport you can think of that pays enough money to build a school or have the attention of politicians and celebrities everywhere. MMA is not on the level of the mlb, soccer, nfl, nba, golf. MMA is the easiest sport in the world to win a gold belt just ask Demetrius Johnson.

I never said MMA athletes were the greatest athletes. 100% I don't think NFL athletes are the best athletes in the world.

How can I say that when the sport requires 53 people to do specific jobs because certain players lack the ability to do that job? It's too diverse a sport to make that claim.

If you said a specific player was a great athlete, that's different, but someones job is to just kick the ball after a set play. That takes skill primarily. It doesn't matter how hard you kick it if it doesn't go where it is meant to.

You’ve got to be kidding me. I don’t think you understand how complicated it is to coach a high level worldwide watched sport like the nfl. Punter seems like a useless position until you learn that a good kicker until you realize how specialized and important they are to the team and how hard it is to actually find one that is good one.

All of those players invested their entire lives on being a specialized nfl player. Anybody can throw on pads and say they are playing football or whatever other sport until you are actually there fighting for millions of dollars against thousands of other people that want your job or you are trying to win a Super Bowl for legacy. Baseball, basketball, football are insanely technical sports especially at the highest level when you are trying to bring pride to an entire city or nation.

I agree. It always comes back to people being technical at their sport when you break it down.
Athleticism is good but who cares if you can't kick the ball where it's meant to go.
