Anyone remember when Chael Sonnen became the No. 1 contender for the MW title shot? And he said that Anderson put out a press release as to why he shouldn't have too fight him?

Well... Anyone know the scheduled time for the press release regarding Hector Lombard? Yeah... he stumbled on his debut... but I can see him beating all the best MW's... I think he will take the title if Anderson will give him the chance.. (I don't forsee anderson affording him that opportunity. I think Anderson will duck him until it's time too retire)

How about Hector vs Sonnen?

That could go either way... Hector has great TDD, and is strong as hell... that could be a long night for both guys.

EDIT: Didn't mean that too sound so callous towards Anderson... Obviously he is currently the No. 1 P4P active fighter... I hope that he gives Lombard the shot, and dosen't "Weidmen" him.

Anderson ducking Lombard? Did I read that correctly?

Lombard would be a TERRIBLE matchup for Sonnen, damn.

Once he does that, he'll get his title shot. Right now, he's 1-1 in the UFC. Bump this thread once he gets a few more UFC wins.

Right now Sonnen is scheduled to do TUF with Bones Jones, with them fighting after that. So Sonnen/Lombard ain't gonna happen.

Lombard is going to eat a knee trying to take Anderson down and/or get knocked out with a well-timed counter on the feet.

Lombard would get matrixed by Anderson

I think Lombard would beat Sonnen though

Lombard take the title from Anderson Silva?

...er...do you know who Anderson Silva is? Because it sounds to me like you've never seen him fight.

The same Anderson Silva that KO'd Leben in 49 seconds, the same Anderson Silva who KO'd former LHW champ Forrest Griffin in under 4 minutes, the same Anderson Silva who TKO'd the "unbreakable" Stephan Bonnar in the first round (the first time Bonnar had EVER been stopped by strikes), is going to LOSE to HECTOR LOMBARD?!

Don't get me wrong, I like Hector a lot. I like his fighting style, and he's definitely an incredibly gifted striker but...Anderson is not only a better striker, but he's the BEST striker. Period. P4P, there is not another striker in MMA that can be considered better. I think this fight could end up the way Anderson/Vitor did. Maybe even with the same finish.

So...lombard loses in his ufc debut (although it was lackluster on both sides) wins his next bout against a guy who probably has one of the worst fight IQ's out there, and you think anderson is ducking him already?

No doubt hector has skills, but it's a bit early to be talking about him being the champ/ getting a title shot
.

Damn, champions are ducking potential contenders earlier and earlier these days. Lombard is only a couple days removed from his first win in the UFC and Silva is already ducking him.

Lombard is nowhere near title talk right now, maybe after 3 more wins if they're over relevant guys.

I thought that Hector would be a good matchup for Anderson back when he was in Bellator. The only thing that has made me think otherwise is his recent loss to TB. I still think that Hector has a good fight in him for Anderson. I don't think it will be as one sided as everyone thinks. Everyone thought that He was gonna "Catch Sonnen with a knee on a shot, and KO him" and it never happened.... Obviously Anderson can win this fight, but I think that Lombard can too... When Lombard gets the wins under his belt, i just hope that AS don't want to take time off again or something. THat's all the thread was about.

LMAO

Lombard wouldn't strike with Anderson. He'd shoot on him early.

I actually think Lombard stand a decent chance. He is extremely explosive, with good takedowns and submission defense. Yes, he needs to get close to Anderson to use his t-rex arms, and is susceptible to legkicks, but he is not an easy fight for him by any means.

A 1-1 guy in in the UFC beats the champ. Yep. Seriously, he needs at least 4 more wins to even be in the title picture. Let's not clown around about him being a contender yet silly nooblets.

As for Weidman, Anderson can't duck what can't fight. Weidman's hurt, and he hasn't beaten any top 5 guys yet.

God, everyone is too willing to jump onto the "this guy is ducking that guy" train. Please, stfu and think before you post.

Not 3 more wins, are you kidding me?

One more win. Two more wins max.

What is wrong with you? He lost a close decision in his debut. A fight that if he won, he would likely be given a title shot.

So you're saying that "loss" set him back four fights? Get out of here.

Even Bjorn Remney didn't think Hector could beat Lombard, but it's MMA, anything can happen. As you say, he'll have to finish a couple more fighters impressively to get that shot since MW is pretty stacked at the moment...

My eyes hurt,
must not read more on sherdog today.

Do you also think Shinya Aoki would beat everyone in the UFC and take the title?

My head hurts.
