I've gone back and forth on this. I really like both movies. At first I liked Casino more because I felt it was more violent and epic, which it is, but I think I've grown to appreciate the conciseness of Goodfellas. The opening scene of Goodfellas is one of the GOATs.

I don't know which I'd pick as my favorite.

Nah. I can't agree and I'll tell you why. The fuckin soundtrack to Casino is a horrible, intrusive, coked up mess of jumpcuts and bullshit that completely destroys all the tension and atmosphere. I've tried to watch it a bunch of times but that soundtrack is so obnoxious and distracting I can't get through it. It's a real shame because I wanted to like it.

Scorsese actually started pulling his hey guys check out my cool record collection bullshit in Goodfellas but I guess his coke habit was more restrained then because the music actually fits the scenes and doesn't bounce from track to track every 10 seconds. I noticed he calmed that shit down after Casino, so he either got rid of the coke or somebody told him to behave.
