Carlos Condit is ranked #8, but his last top 10 win was almost 5 years ago against Martin Kampmann

Magny is going to humiliate Condit.

Save this for the bump.

Became interim champ. Finished Hardy and Alves, something GSP couldn't do. Very close fight with GSP. Arguably beat Lawler. Very average fighter. LOL<JonesDXSuckIt>
54% win percentage. That is average my friend. You can be selective all you want, but the truth is he only won 54% of the time. If you get 54% in school, you failed. It doesn't matter if you had a few good projects here and there. LOL

Condit is the man!

Should have beaten Kampmann, beat Lawler, excellent fight vs Hendricks (that was a top notch fight, my favourite loss of his), nearly kicked off GSP's head, smashed Kampmann in the rematch, smashed Alves, bamboozled Diaz, wrecked Dong, was WEC champ with some excellent fights there....

OK, he's in the twilight of his career. But how can anyone hate unless you're a massive, one-eyed Diaz fan?

The UFC's rankings are trash. I think there's still a lot of people who don't quite realise how they work.

The rankings are voted on by "media members", except any media member worth their salt recognizes the whole process as a problematic conflict of interest, so they abstain from voting. The people who do vote on the rankings are often from shit tier websites and the like and are probably less knowledgeable than half the Shertards on here. I remember seeing an article/breakdown of some of the votes and there were votes for retired fighters, guys going UP after a loss, people voting for fighters in the wrong division... it's a fucking mess.

Basically, the rankings can be looked at as a general guide for a fighters place in the division. Even with someone like Condit, yes his ranking makes no "sense", but skill wise, it's probably pretty accurate.

I guess we'll see when he fights Magny.

There was this dude who put Sonnen at #2 in LHW because he beat Shogun.

Has he lost to anyone outside the top 10?

The guy only loses to top guys, why wouldn’t he still be top 10?

Not sure. He clearly declined after usada and then got an undeserved ts and took a beating against Lawler and then quit against Demian

LOL stop posting you fucking casual

This sport is in serious need of an objective, merit-based ranking system.

Like something strictly point based for rankings.

The perennial top ten thing is a huge problem right now. Didnt Weidman drop three in a row and drop to #8?

How the fuck does that make any sense.....

Points based on what?

Uncrowned King with a wrongful split decision against Lawler, as others have noted.

Granted that version of Robbie also looked to be in decline, we don't know if Robbie was cheating but he turned in suspicious test results to NSAC for his fight with Rory, then his career came undone as USADA entered the picture.

What suspicious test results?

He could have fought a bunch of scrubs for decent money and easy wins, but instead he wants to fight the best of the best. I appreciate every time I've gotten to see him fight, and probably will so even more now that he's in the waning end of his fighting career. One of the best welterweight career resume's of all-time, Condit's a real warrior and I'm glad I got to watch him fight.

One of the best resumes of all time??? You trippin.

Conor hasn't fought in over a year and has nothing scheduled. His peers are forced to fight each other knocking off contenders in his absence.

His last fight was - I shit you not - a boxing match. Currently his reason for sitting out is 'I'm too wealthy.'

There really aren't any rules these days.

Yes, but this thread is about Condit.
