When I got married in 2003, I had a 2002 Tacoma extended cab. When our son was born I was only able to either drive with him or my wife because the car seat wouldn't fit on the half-seat side facing fold-downs in the back. (Technically she could ride in the little jump seat behind me, but that would have been tight). I still miss that truck. If it had been a double-cab, I have no doubt my son would have driven it in HS. Anyway, I ended up trading it in for a Sienna that served us well.+1
Toyotas are reliable AF. My dad (RIP) made me a believer more than 20 years ago when he steered me toward a 4Runner and I've been driving Toyotas ever since and currently have a Lexus.
My dad was a truck guy and went through various makes until the 90's when he settled on Tacos and Tundras. He had a 2003 Tundra that he put 300K miles on and even after he got a 2011 Tundra, the new one mostly sat in the driveway because he preferred the old one and put another 100K miles on it before it got relegated to beater duty. Right before he passed in 2020, he had just bought a used 2003 Tundra and spent $10K getting it overhauled so he could daily drive it.
