Pamela Anderson was never this thick.

There are plenty of aspiring actresses working server jobs in SoCal that can pull off that look. Why not just grab up a nobody instead of taking one of the best features of a comic book character?

The film sidesteps the traditional origin-story template, and when it begins, Carol already has her powers. She’s left her earthly life behind to join the elite military team Starforce on the Kree planet of Hala. (Directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck describe Starforce as the SEAL Team Six of space.) Its members include Carol, Korath (Djimon Hounsou, returning from Guardians of the Galaxy), and Minn-Erva (Crazy Rich Asians’ Gemma Chan).

Jude Law plays the commander of Starforce, who views Carol as a mentee and pet project. “These extraordinary powers she has, he sees them as something of a blessing and something that she has to learn how to control,” Law says. “That’s a motif throughout the piece, the element of learning to control one’s emotions and to use your powers wisely.”

The film also introduces one of Marvel comics’ nastiest and most notorious baddies: the Skrulls. Ben Mendelsohn plays their leader, Talos, seen here in all his bright-green glory. But he’s got another face, too…

As any Marvel comics fan knows, the Skrulls are especially dangerous because of their unparalleled ability to shape-shift. On Earth, Mendelsohn’s Talos goes undercover as a human working within S.H.I.E.L.D. (seen here with directors Fleck and Boden). “It’s not easy being green,” Mendelsohn quips.

MCU fans have met the Kree race before in Guardians of the Galaxy, and two familiar faces — Hounsou’s Korath and Lee Pace’s Ronan the Accuser (pictured here) — will appear in Captain Marvel. In Guardians, Ronan is an outcast with extremist views, but here, he’s still a high-ranking member of Kree society.

Captain Marvel marks Samuel L. Jackson’s ninth appearance as Nick Fury, but this Nick is a lowly S.H.I.E.L.D. desk jockey (who hasn’t yet met any superheroes). He’s younger than we’ve ever seen him (Jackson was digitally de-aged for the role), and perhaps most shocking of all, he’s missing his signature eyepatch.

Even before she became Captain Marvel, Carol was an accomplished Air Force pilot, and Larson spent time with actual pilots for research.

The film also introduces Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, one of Carol’s oldest friends. She’s a top-notch Air Force pilot with the call sign “Photon,” and she’s also a single mother to a young daughter.

Is Jude Law's character also a Kree? If so, why he not have purple face. And yeh Ronan is back.

Are you serious? You think the MCU is interested in putting in some Barbie Look-alike no name over a proven and critically acclaimed actress because sherdog poster neckbeards think the movie universe should cater to the same demographic that he comic universe did?

Be serious here. The MCU is trying to appeal to far more than 15 year old boys wanting FAP material and they have been successful for doing just that.

A critically acclaimed actress who will look hot enough for most casuals will be far more appealing to those casuals then a Pamela Anderson/Barbie type stumbling through but looking good.

Casuals to the MCU absolutely will take her stand alone movie more seriously and go see it because it has a known actress with an Oscar and other nominations over some T&A.

Grow up.

Geez, like Hollyweird, MSM, internet dont try and sell sex to differing degrees right. It is a gimmick they use since probably the beginning of film making. You need to grow up. Some . . . any sex appeal will make the character and movie all the more better, more entertaining. If you cannot handle people suggesting it, then just go watch nickelodeon.

The gimmick Hollywood is using now is to try to appeal to more than just 15 year old males. And it is working very well for the MCU.

If you think you have figured out a better plan than rush your resume into Marvel letting them know you have figured out the key to a greater level of success and that is Barbie/Pamela Anderson type actresses over qualified name and critically acclaimed ones. You need to make movies great again by taking it back to the past.

Pam Anderson is not suitable for Capt Marvel role. Looks too trashy.

Impossible to ignore the fact that there will be enormous critical bias in the press, as there was with Wonder Woman and Black Panther, both of which were far more mediocre than the fanfare suggested.
Maybe. But there have been any number of mediocre movies starring predominantly white casts through the years which somehow haven't occasioned anywhere near the vitriol I've seen.

It just seems funny that people who swear up and down they aren't prejudiced have no problem calling these movies before they even wrap, let alone are playing in theatres.

Its pretty obvious politics is at play for certain people in this thread, in terms of actual success though quality is the issue, Ghostbusters and the Last Jedi didn't go down well with the wider public because they weren't very good cinema.

I'm incredibly unexcited that a superhero I've never heard of before is going to be a big factor in Infinity War. I'm not even going to see it but I assume I'll have to get cliffs just for continuity when it does come out.

It's especially shitty that they're shoehorning this character in when there's a perfectly capable cosmic entity in Jean Gray just hanging around totally not being killed by Wolverine they could have used.

Marvel isn’t feminist. They employ thousands of women in sweatshops. None of them get mat leave or a decent wage. They work like slaves for pittance until their bodies are broken and then they are fired and left to die on the streets.

Marvel's owned by Disney, aka Das Mouse Reich, so that wouldn't surprise me.

But making Captain Marvel, "the most powerful character the MCU has ever seen" is a cash grab. Marvel saw the kind of bank DC made from pushing the Feminism angle with Wonder Woman.

Did you see her Fappening big titties? How about the g-string buns scene with the actor who played Dexter? Buns kinda flat, but the titties... are great!!! Face could be better.

That suit is horrible and does no favors, thick leather jacket and and pants give her a bulky and flat figure in all the wrong places.

If they had used something more spandex looking similar to what she wears under the costume we would have a better tits to - waist to hips ratio.

Everything is a cash grab with them. They might be cynically using feminism to appeal to some market they wouldn’t normally get access too but they aren’t meaningfully feminist in any way.

Creating some stupid debate about power levels and feminism keeps people talking. And makes Disney look good to a certain demographic, (women/feminists/liberals/whatever) whereas anyone who is bothered by it will, at worst, debate online and will definitely still go see the movie - even if only to prove themselves right.

Couple of thoughts. Apart from Black Widow, no MCU female character was over-sexualized. I mean, have people seen how Gamora and Scarlet Witch looked like (and dressed) in the comics?

As far as Captain Marvel, of course it's a cash grab. And of course she has to be the strongest (not sure why, as Thor had deus ex machina in last two movies he appeared in), having a good female hero (BW, Shuri, Scarlett, Valkyrie etc etc) as a secondary character is not good enough. She has to be THE strongest there is.
If by any chance, they can subtly hint at her being a lesbian, that would be a cherry on the freakin' SJW/PC top.

Be sure to tune in to MCU Phase 4, where the newer, groundbreaking stories of asian hulk, female thor, and female spiderman appear. Female take on popular characters, of course, cannot happen without them being at least part black/spanish.

I think were seeing the draw of either side isn't as big as Hollywood perhaps thinks, what ultimately controls the success of blockbusters is still their quality, or at least the quality of the franchise as a whole.

You didn't have a backlash to Rogue One for example by anyone but a very small minority of alt right crazies because more Starwars fans actually liked the film, you did for The Last Jedi because it simply wasn't good cinema, politics could not save a confused mess of a film that disrespected its own franchise.

If Cap Marvel is decent you won't get a large scale backlash, if its crap and looks to hide behind politics you will.

I agree with almost everything you've said here, with one exception. I will only go to see CM if if gets a glowing review from @Dragonlordxxxxx
