WASHINGTON, Dec 10 (Reuters) - A California man charged with assaulting police in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol and using a metal barricade as a battering ram has fled the United States and is believed to have taken refuge in Belarus, federal prosecutors said on Friday.
Evan Neumann, 49, was indicted on Friday on 14 criminal counts stemming from the deadly Capitol siege by supporters of then-President Donald Trump, expanding on charges originally contained in a criminal complaint filed against Neumann in March.
Neumann, of Mill Valley, California, near San Francisco, was seen in video footage donning a gas mask while standing near police in front of barricades set up at the base of the West Front of the Capitol Building, prosecutors said in a statement.
According to documents filed in the case, Neumann later removes his gas mask and shouts at the police, "I'm willing to die, are you?" before he physically assaults several officers and rushes into them using a barricade as a battering ram.
Neumann, who has yet to make a court appearance in the case, fled from the United States on Feb. 16 and "is currently believed to be in Belarus," the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia said in a statement.
According to an account published by news outlet the Daily Beast, Neumann was featured last month in a Belarusian state television special titled "Goodbye, America," recounting his journey to the former Soviet republic and its capital, Minsk.
He said on the program that he was seeking political asylum in Belarus because the United States, in his opinion, is no longer a country of law and order, the Daily Beast reported.
Dude tries to take part in the overthrowing of an election, assaults police officers, then laments the decline of law and order in the U.S. What a fucking goofball!
And flees to Belarus, the shining beacon of democracy and free speech.
Awesome

Here's what will happen...
Belarus will bleed him dry and once the money is gone, he'll be given a mandatory free ride back to the U.S. with a black bag over his head and zip-tie cuffs on his hands all courtesy of the Belarusian Government.

Toughest sentence yet for any Capitol rioter: over 5 years
"WASHINGTON (AP) — A Capitol rioter who attacked police officers working to hold back the angry pro-Trump mob on Jan. 6 was sentenced Friday to more than five years behind bars, the most so far for anyone sentenced in the insurrection.
Robert Palmer, 54, of Largo, Florida, wept as he told U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan that he recently watched a video of his actions that day and could not believe what he was seeing.
“Your honor. I’m really really ashamed of what I did,” he said through tears.
A college student who posted online that “Infamy is just as good as fame” after she climbed through a broken window at Capitol was sentenced to a month in jail for her actions. Gracyn Courtright, 23, of Hurricane, West Virginia, didn't injure anyone, though, and her sentence reflected that.
But Palmer made his way to the front line during the chaos and started to attack, throwing a wooden plank, spraying a fire extinguisher, then hurling it when it was done. He rooted around for other objects, prosecutors said. He was briefly pepper-sprayed by police before he attacked officers again with a pole. He pleaded guilty to attacking officers.
Palmer said in a handwritten letter to the judge that he felt betrayed by Trump and his allies who fed them conspiracy theories. "

Ah, Jimmy Pesto... We hardly knew ye...
Actor Jay Johnston Banned From ‘Bob’s Burgers’ Over Capitol Riot

"The “Mr. Show” and “Anchorman” actor will no longer be voicing the character of Jimmy Pesto Sr. on Fox’s animated hit after he was allegedly spotted at the Jan. 6 insurrection."
“I’m no detective, but I do know Jay. He said he was there. And that’s him in the picture. So…” Cassandra Church, an actress who worked alongside Johnston on the show Harmontown, tweeted in March. Spencer Crittenden, another former Harmontown colleague of Johnston’s, wrote that the actor’s “also a craven Trump supporter and was there at the time” in a since-deleted tweet.
Tim Heidecker, an actor and comedy writer who guest-starred on Bob’s Burgers, tweeted that he had “fully confirmed through reliable sources” that the man in the FBI poster was Johnston and added “it’s Jay.” Heidecker subsequently deleted the posts because, he said, his tweet “was a reply to someone who asked and shouldn’t be used as some kind of official source of information or verification.”
