Rumored Canelo’s $150M payday vs Crawford is bigger than the ENTIRE UFC roster combined ($140M) in 2025

Yeah that's the biggest problem, people getting generational wealth in one night for performances that you wouldn't think the, "best in the world", would do.

Kind of like Lars from Metallica. I still love that band, they put on a good show last year, but Lars hasn't taken drumming seriously since the mid 90's, and yet he's still at the top of "rock stardom". He struggles to play the most basic beats, can't play his own songs, and edits live videos on their official social media so his drumming sounds better. Maybe he has health problems or a drug problem or something, but you'd think a musician in one of the biggest bands would be at the top of their game 99% of the time.

Kirk definitely dropped off in the mid 2000s, I saw them in 2010 and couldn't believe how badly he fucked up the Damage Inc solo. Judging by the live videos he's been practicing more lately, you got one job dude just fucking put the practice time in!

Is hettfield still solid?

I saw them about 3x between 97-200o or so and I was very impressed at how well Hettfield played and sang live.

Guy is an excellent rhythm guitarist (one of the more underappreciated skills in music imo) and sings quite well live. He definitely knows how to play to his strengths vocally both in the studio and songwriting and in live performance.

Yeah Hetfield never fucks up on guitar, he will get vocals wrong sometimes though but his rhythm playing is bulletproof. He does cheat a little bit by alternate picking some bits that he'd downpick back in the day but he's over 60 and playing thrash metal, fair enough I reckon!

And the Lopes vs Silva fight was 150 million times better than that stuck in the mud boxing match

I don’t understand how boxing still generates so much revenue when the big fights are generally boring as fuck these days
Casuals seem to flock to the big fights still

I used to love boxing back in the day, I can hardly watch it now

The question is how much would been the purse without the money of the KSA. Is like Mr Cristiano Ronaldo salary, does not obey the normal market rules.

Dana and co. underpay MMA fighters while top boxers are massively overpaid.
A top neurosurgeon earning $3-5 million/year would need 30-50 years of continuous clinical work to match that one fight’s earnings for Canelo.
Well Netflix produce documentaries on Cristiano Ronaldo girlfriend (followed by millions), thats the world we live in.

Turki is talking about the overall contract. He is not paying Canelo 150m for the crawford fight. He has money but he is not flushing it down the toilet. These fan boy narratives are ridiculous. Turki is on the record that Jake Paul and Netflix outbidded him for Canelo.

I'm not intentionally playing devil's advocate here; I do agree that MMA fighters are underpaid, especially in UFC. I still think that boxing existing for over 100 years, as the sport that it still is, longer than MMA factors heavily in the discrepancy.

The comparison between boxing and MMA in general, but even more on point regarding pay, is comparing apples to oranges. They're not the same thing.

Let me finish that statement by repeating that MMA FIGHTERS ARE UNDERPAID.

What it says is people will watch the ufc regardless. They watch for the brand first, fighters second.

If you take canelo out of the picture, the event becomes “espn fight night” or some shit.

It’s crap but the fighters need to stop being such bootlicking bitches and mobilise on this issue.

Guys like Ngannou have fought to get paid what they’re worth but all the cans on this forum hate on him. You guys are so contradictory sometimes.

In order for boxing to generate the kind of money it does, it must bring in a shit ton of viewers. That's what i don't get. Boxing usually seems boring to me.

The average schmo really prefers boxing?

The UFC is generating the most money, they're just spending way less of it on fight purses. Boxing is almost entirely individual fighter/fight based, while MMA (and kickboxing) is built around a mix of the individual fighters/big fights + the promotion itself + the overall cards, something more akin to the WWE.

Canelo/Crawford fight was a bigger single fight than anything the UFC did this year but thats because it was on Netflix and the UFC is having a quieter period in the last few years with a relative lack of star power. Aspinall/Jon on the same platform most likely would have done bigger numbers. The UFC really messed up not getting themselves on Netflix imo.

Turki is just flushing money down the toilet, but it seems like he has unlimited funds. Why are they throwing so much money at this past-prime boxer for such mediocre fights? There's no way these events are breaking even let alone turning a profit. Jake Paul has that kind of money to burn now? Because his events aren't a very big draw, sales numbers are pretty low. There's gotta be some money laundering/crypto scam behind this.

$150 million for one fight is absolutely fucking stupid.

And obligatory fuck Dana and Co, stuff like this shows how greedy they are.
Especially when all the other fights on the card are bunk. That's how boxing is. At least with UFC all the maincard fights should be exciting

How is it "what he's worth" if every event he's been on has lost tens of millions? The Saudis knew they were going to lose a ton of money, but the PFL can't even give him another fight without bankrupting the org.

Did you fact check it just find a meme and run with it
