Rumored Canelo’s $150M payday vs Crawford is bigger than the ENTIRE UFC roster combined ($140M) in 2025

Boxers get paid too much and mma guys get paid too little.

If they paid their guys and girls more maybe more people would consider MMA

sherdorks think that canelo making a bazilion dollars while the undercard guys get paid three nuggets and a soda is "fair pay" lol

sure the ufc could pay better(they could also stop hiring regional level bums), but comparing it to boxing is RIDICULOUS

boxing is a ridiculous sport, the average pay is even lower than the ufc(and that's accouting for the absurdities like canelo's bullshit pay)

i'm pretty sure there's a lot of money laundering going on there cause it makes no sense

i remember usyk got paid like 4 million for the first joshua fight and that seem'd fair for me, canelo's pay is just ridiculous bullshit

Canelo had 40 fights before even making a million dollars..

Canelo Álvarez made his first million from the proceeds of his 2012 fight against Shane Mosley, where he defended his light middleweight title and earned over $1.2 million dollars.
The fight with Mosley was a significant career milestone for Canelo, as it was the point at which he officially earned over a million dollars in his professional boxing career.

Because he turned pro at 15. He's 35 and has had 63 fights.

UFC is better run and streamlined but the fighters get shafted. The percentage of revenue they get is a joke. After the new deal, Dana should offer new, better renumerated contracts. That is the only way to attract and retain talent in this sport.

What a joke. If anything, he's way overpaid, the people writing his checks are morons.
How the hell could he be overpaid if the fight profited handsomely. You can’t even explain this goofiness logically

Yea this fight made me realize I'm already out of touch with how rapidly boxers are getting a bigger piece of the pie (at the top end).

Both Canelo and Crawford have been getting ~80% share of the total revenue (combined with their opponents) for at least a couple fights each now. This is due to a variety of factors, including bigger fighters like Mayweather and Canelo starting their own fight promotion companies.

Then you've got UFC fighters taking a combined 16% of the total revenues... and the difference is just shocking.

pay them too much, you get prima donnas that duck anyone with a pulse and wait until the fights are 10 yrs too late to actually sign, pay too little and you have the literal wretches of society the only ones willing to participate
<Fedor23>

the other thing is, it's not like boxing has a ton of talent either even with their perceived "better pay" that really only the .001% of the boxers ever see. the risk of public humiliation just does not seem on the cards for these new gens, especially with how important reputation is now in this online 24/7 age. when guys get KO'd in ANY other sports people are concerned, when guys get KO'd in combat sports people look at them like they're weak. that, and with how easy it is to stream and just to do OTHER THINGS besides get beaten up, makes any combat sport less appealing.

$150 million for one fight is absolutely fucking stupid.

And obligatory fuck Dana and Co, stuff like this shows how greedy they are.
there has to be a happy medium. No canelo wont be hungry to fight anymore. He should retire while his brain is mostly intact.

And Crawford schooled the hell outta him and only got 10million $$$$

This is why Dana is desperate to gut the Ali Act.

He can use his Saudi money connection to splash billions in long-term contracts to all the top boxers, and then everyone else will follow them to TKO Boxing. Once he's got all the best boxers fighting for him, he can start underpaying future boxers and mold it into a UFC model. He's got his eyes on that boxing money.

This is also why we need the Ali Act in MMA.

Remember though the Ali Act doesn't make anyone get paid more. It just makes the finances more transparent on each event.

It doesn't take much digging to know the UFC is keeping a massive percentage of the pie and plenty of numbers showing just how bad it is from the class action law suit.

It would help with some of BS contract wording they have that is for sure.

But really at the end of day, the UFC has proven the UFC name is worth more to the fan base than a individual fighters name. Personally, I think the UFC business model has it right but does need to pay out more to the fighters and also have automatic sunset clauses in the contracts. The UFC has more guarantee revenue than ever before and need to readjust the model from what it use to be back when PPV was driving most of the revenue, those days are long gone and they continue to get fat off of that way of thinking. Otherwise the fighters just need to come together and figure this shit out just like every other major sport has gone through.

Yes. TBH it's a bad look for UFC that its fighters go over to boxing to essentially make money. There should be a much higher base pay for ranked fighters ($ x million(s) for champions). Boxing pay (at the top end) has gotten insane, but it does provide gravitas that keeps talent coming through,
