I recently tried a couple of Trappist Monk Belgian beers that scored 100 out of 100 by a panel of "experts", and while they were good, I wouldn't say they were any better or even much different than many other fine beers I've tasted. There are so many brands of delicious beer on the market....can you really distinguish among many of them? Every time I try a new beer that people are raving about it's always, That's delicious, but been there there done that. Thoughts?

It's a lot like whiskey.

And what I mean by that is it's mostly imagined.

I should get a job tasting beers for a living. I can tell them what not to sell. If I like it, they shouldn’t sell it. Every beer I like gets discontinued. Think of the time I can save them.

I believe Miller Lite tastes great and is less filling.

Yes, if you get some cheap ass beer itll taste like watered down skunk piss. If you get quality beer then you'll taste the different flavors and the brewing processes.

I'm totally hooked on trying new beers. I've been fortunate to have a number of good shops near the places I've lived, so that over the past ten or so years I've tried, honestly, thousands of them. Never the same beer twice unless I've really enjoyed one. A fool and his money are soon parted, huh?

A lot of what's out there is pretty similar, it's true. But I think you can def tell the difference between a good take on a style of beer and a not so good one.

It's absolutely not imagined science can explain it all. As for what makes a good beer, that answer is highly subjective.

I can taste the difference between a shit beer and a good beer. And different styles of different beers - even different hops in different beers. The beer snob analysis you find on beer advocate is pretty much BS though (if you ask me).

It just depends on what you want really. I love Lagers. Not budwiser but Heieken, pacifico, modelo especially. Many beer snobs would consider these "watered down" piss beers.

I cant stand IPA's or beers like guiness. It tastes like old coffee and chocolate. I used to like beers like racer 5 but they are too thick. If I want to sip on something, I will get a nice wine.

The douches that go to brewerys though are the worst. They read a few reddit articles and act like they know everything.

At the end of the day its just an opinion on what taste you like, no ones right or wrong really.

I drink craft beers a lot my local watering hole is a craft beer place. I can’t tell the difference in quality just the difference in personal taste. Quality beers is just a gimmick

I'm a big fan of stouts and porters.
if they're too thick, you can always add a bit of lager to lighten them.

You probably have a sensitivity to bitter flavors like I do. You might find one with less hop bitterness and more balance to be palatable.

Nah, like a lot of bitter stuff.

IPAs are just garbage.
