Can you do spinning backfist in boxing? i dont know specific rules of boxing but is there rule that never turn your back to opponent ?

The main issue is evident from the name.

A spinning backfist.

Exclude all the issues about deliberately turning your back on your opponent and the like... the real issue is that a backfist, spinning or not, is illegal in boxing. In essence, regardless of jurisdiction, a legal boxing blow must be landed between the first and second knuckles of each finger. A backfist lands with (at best) the knuckles to the back of the hand and is thus a deliberately illegal blow.

no, its illegal because back in bareknuckle boxing days people did backfists to cut their opponent, so now you cant strike with the back of your hand

so what about a spinning forward fist?

Can't even do a back fist (no spin) either as I recall.

I would be more curious to know if a superman punch is allowed in boxing.

WTF?! Superman punch is basically faking a low kick and suddenly throwing a right/rear hand. In boxing, kicks are illegal so there is no point in faking a kick. People watching so much mma nowadays think SUperman punch is just a standalone cool looking technique. Any good boxer in a boxing match would see that punch coming a mile away. It isn't even seen much in kickboxing where kicks are allowed

It's illegal to strike an opponent with the back of your glove so, no.

I dont understand why the hell anyone would even want to try that stupid shit, even if it were legal.

Spinning backfists and superman punches are the most ridiculous things ever. Sorry, but a good striker would never get hit with either.

Especially a superman, if your going to fake low and go high then why the hell would you jump to punch. It just wastes time, you take all the leverage off your punch. so pointless, but the MMA crowd eats it up. Jab to the body and shoot a straight to the head. Way more effective, Watch Mayweather against Dlh if you want to see it in action.

I used to think this way before I saw GSP knock down Hughes with a superman punch in their second fight. I also thought the high kick with the lead leg was also useless but GSP knocked Hughes down with that technique as well.

James Irvin threw a superman punch the way it's supposed to be thrown when he KO'd Houston Alexander. Alot of dudes just jump in the air and aren't really feinting with anything like Cazadores said. Irvin had some sick KO's back in the day.

Irvin will always be one of my favs. Finish or be finished with him.

I'll admit that I don't know much about boxing and I know RJJ could always in his younger days get away with stuff that most others couldn't because of his insane athletic ability but he does a weird punch that gets shown in this:

Where he throws a straight and his rear leg slides back as he punches. Is there any reason at all to punch like that? (I'm guessing no.)

I remember one of the first MMA fights I ever saw was when he KO'd Terry Martin with that flying knee. I love to watch him fight too.

As for Roy, you're right he did alot of shit that normal dudes could never get away with. He has that rare combo of speed and power that not many fighters have.

I was never taught to move my back foot when I threw a punch but I've heard that some people are taught to slide the toes of their back foot forward when they throw a straight in certain situations. RJJ was known for doing alot of things wrong technically so I'm pretty sure he just did that in the heat of the moment.

That HL vid is awesome though. RJJ had some of the best HL's ever.
