The State isn't providing remedy by adequately punishing this kind of individual (the burglar). Then it punishes (often) people who take punishment into their own hands. Just going through the process of arrest, maybe court etc. and being found not guilty, or having charges dropped or whatever is an ordeal.
We have a similar thing round here with the Council making you register your name, address, car number plate etc. with the tip, book online slots, then pay to drop off rubbish and the number of times you can visit is limited. You're also filmed on CCTV and body-worn camera. Sometimes the waste you drop off is weighed, and the weight is limited. Then they prosecute people for fly-tipping.
The public are like a branch being cut by a wire saw from both sides at once. People usually say whipsaw, but a whipsaw is straight.

Two men have been charged with beating up a burglar who broke into their home and stood over them while they slept. This seems like woke DA bullshit. The burglar, who has been charged with felony burglary, has a rap sheet a mile long with other burglary convictions.
