Define BMF.
As a side note I really dislike Bisping a great deal. It is very difficult for me to have an unbiased opinion about the man. This will be an attempt
Bisping was tough; I'll give him that much. Not many could ever come back from a knockout like Henderson's and go on to be successful and even win the title nontheless. Furthermore he developed an eye injury so his last ten or so fights in the UFC were with only one eye. Having said that, he did have a lot of luck along the way. By that I mean that the UFC was willing to put up with him sh*tting his pants everytime he got a title shot. If he were any other fighter on the roster, he wouldn't have been given the title shot against Rockhold but because the UFC needed a British champion, they were willing to treat him with some preferential treatment. In his fight with Rockhold, he more or less caught Rockhold whereas in their first match, Bisping got outclassed.
Bisping's toughness withstanding, he never was a
dangerous fighter. A dangerous fighter is someone who has
- Devastating knockout power
- Tricky and efficient submissions
With the exception of his knockout of Rockhold Bisping never showed this. Even in one of the best performances of his career against Cung Le, it took him all of three rounds and into the fourth round for him to stop Le. To anyone keeping track he had to hit Le with at least fifty strikes before stopping him; basically he beat him down with volume punches.
To put matters into perspective in Bisping's last fight against Gastelum, a swift right hand from Gastelum and Bisping dropped to the floor faster than a sorority girl's underwear.
Dan Henderson and Kelvin Gastelum are
dangerous fighters.
