Can Vettori get the strap?

Lol. People really think Izzy could lose by getting out-wrestled?

Izzy has beaten better wrestlers, defended more powerful takedown attempts and has just gotten so much better since their fight.

Nobody at MW can beat Izzy.

Vettori was Adesanya’s closest fight...

Even closer than Gastelum (though Gastelum did do more damage)...

Still, the Adesanya that fought Vettori the first time is not the Adesanya that is the current champion, and even though Vettori has improved, it looks like Adesanya has gotten much much better than him since then.

He has no finishing ability, he clearly is skilled and talented and is a tough guy, but he lacks finishes, I predicted on here yesterday that it will go to decision with Vettori winning a decision. He needs some killer instinct!!!

Even low level prelim guys he couldn't finish them. He seems to have a great chin, and is tough, but he needs to start finishing guys often

Vettori 2.0 vs Izzy will be a great fight.

Took that fight against Jack on very short notice and went 5 hard rounds

On a full camp he will be alot better

<LikeReally5>

He was supposed to fight next week

Maybe if he improves his cardio. He's not gonna beat Izzy with 2-round cardio. He is somewhat like Bisping. A good all-rounder with the focus on stand-up, but no one thing stands out.

He's young and can still improve if he doesn't take much damage.
He can be a solid top 5, he just bested the contender #4 of the division.
The belt though, that's hard, considering also that Whittaker, Costa, Till, Gastelum, Shahbazyan are all still not in their 30s

to be honest he looked technically inferior to Hermanson everywhere except for the wrestling. Standing up he was just stronger and Hermanson was affraid of his power while Vettori was just walking through Hermanson's punches. On the ground Vettori got top position and did nothing with it, he actually looked like the one in trouble. If he fights someone he can't outpower (Canonier, Costa, Whitaker) or Izzy with his sniper strikes, he is going down.
Im down to av bet for his next fight if it's Costa if you think he's so shit.

He went 5 rounds tonight and helped set a record for strikes thrown in a middleweight UFC fight.

In his first 5 round fight and taking the fight with almost no camp on short notice...

I'd say given his output and practically zero camp, his gas tank was surprisingly good.

I agree with your points but he had an almost full camp. Remember he was scheduled to fight next week against Jacare at UFC 256. He and Holland just swapped dates and opponents so Holland could have time to recover from the virus. Marvin had only been training for a 3 rounder tho so like you said, I thought he did great. He looked like he was fading badly in round 3 but recovered really well in 4-5.

Cost is actually the one I am more unsure about from that list. Maybe he can take him down. But he will lose standing, unless Costa's will is broken after the KO

Same tbh, idk if he can outwork Whittaker over 5 or if he has the power to finish him, Costa is more dangerous early then Whittaker but theirs a more clear path to victory with him, I think a big, well rounded fighter like Vettori can pull it off.

Nah, he's very solid but not elite. Neither is Hermansson. But, he looked excellent last night and deserves his spot in the top 5 if that's where he ends up, and a big-name main event fight next.

Don't quite understand the people shitting on Marvin's cardio, he perpared for a 3 round fight and wom rounds 4 and 5.

He went the distance with the champ.

First UFC Italian champ?

Or is that a done deal?
Don't think his ground game is good enough to keep Izzy down and think his striking isn't quick or dynamic enough to be a big enough threat standing.

Vettori would really need to mix it up to win this one. Every time I watch Vettori, he really reminds met of The Chris before he started to fall off. Probably not as good of a grappler but I really see a lot of similarities between the two.
