I get that the UFC can barr Conor from fighting in other sports. However, could the Muhammad Ali Act kick in specifically for boxing matches?

Not even the Genghis Khan act is going to allow Conor McGregor to box with Mayweather without Lorenzo stomping his balls into pancakes.

But I love the popcorn Mayweather vs. Conor is creating. So please continue arguing! kthxbi

conor is under contract with zuffa. no boxing match with mayweather will happen.

His contract definitely prevents him from competing in another striking sport. I know some fighters do grappling competitions but they might even need permission for that.

Pol Pot Act might come into play though.

Right. But couldn't the Muhammad Ali Act make that part of his contract illegal to apply to boxing matches and thus null and void?

the contracts fighters sign with the ufc and almost all other major organizations typically involve exclusivity in MMA and in all combat sports.

Its really just going to be an exhibition touch-butt match.

Most touches wins.

They can certainly sue him. But I have a feeling their contract would be invalid outside of MMA realm if the judge is not corrupt. Of course UFC tries to make everyone believe otherwise, but they never even try to sue anyone for participating in grapping contests. Whether it is smart for fighters to risk their UFC career is a different question.

If Conor could somehow secure a fight between him and Mayweather. IF. I don't think he would give two shits about UFC, because he is all about the ka-ching, and that kind of fight would make him wealthy as f**k, like retire rich.

Id rather see Floyd fight the lowest ranked UFC fighter in his weight class.

"Lets just punch" is retarded and not realistic. Its BS.

Lots of talk about a MMA fighter going boxing....zero talk about a boxer losing his rule set.

That should pretty much sum it up.

Can Conor even get a boxing license? The athletic commission will likely not allow the fight to go ahead, given the vast gap in skill level

Remember when Rampage fought in the UFC while under a Bellator contract? The only way you can find out is to have a Judge rule it I guess. I think Conor would need to declare he's retired first.

This. Exclusive contracts, Conor isn't fighting anywhere. The only thing he could do is grappling, which the UFC has allowed in the past and recently.

If Mayweather really wants the fight he will offer the UFC co promotion and they will take it.

Unlike in other attempts at co promotion or a contract fighter, fighter fighting outside the UFC this fight would be a total Win/Win for the UFC regardless of how Conor did in terms of exposure.

One of the huge sticking points in the Fedor/UFC negotiations was that Fedor wanted to be allowed to compete in combat sambo while under contract with he UFC, if I recall correctly. That shows us some precedent for this situation.
