Can Conor's aura come back?

I know if he doesn't totally ruin himself, go to jail or some shit, he'll still be a sellable commodity for a time to come.

The only 2 people I've seen more hated in my lifetime are Hitler and Bin Laden.

People will fork over money to see this guy get punished.

They could have a 1 billion dollar fight if they could swing Conner vs Rousey.

...nobody besides casuals would care...

You do realize that the public is made of 99% “casuals” and 1% “hardcore” fans ... so “nobody besides casuals” actually means almost everybody, which from a marketing and $$$ standpoint is far better than to be a - for example Lawler - legend to most hardcore fans yet earning in a whole fighting career less than Conor earns in one fight.

They are prizefighters after all.

Conor has become insufferable but the masses undoubtedly care, they loathe him or love him but most still want to see him fight.

I don't know if aura's the right word. He's been shown to the world that he can lose and isn't invincible.

He can definitely get good wins over a lot of guys still though, yes.

To be fair we saw that against Nate and he still drew well afterwards.

You sum it up perfectly. He's become the supreme pantomime baddy act. But as a serious fighter he's finished.

As for his act, I'd rather the girl had stuck by her complaint. But unfortunately he seems to have a lot of power in that twighlight semi-criminal Dublin society he moves in and it looks like he's got away with that one.

Sooner or later though the wheels will come off completely. He's an accident waiting to happen.

I agree but people made the excuses he was too heavy, short notice opponent etc.

Khabib well and truly put the nail in that coffin. Same way Amanda did with Ronda.

1 win against a gatekeeper an hes right back where he was..

Once the aura is gone it’s gone.

The only way imo to get anywhere close to the past, would be to start at the middle to bottom of LW division. Beat a couple cans, then some contenders, then get a title shot after 6-7 fight win streak. Just like most of everybody else.

If not, He’s just gonna be some guy who got in got rich, got out, and hit an old man in the head.

He actually didn't do too bad against Khabib. No one that knows mma thought he would win, but he did hang in there for a bit.

I more mean the out of the octagon stuff. It isn't just one or two things, and it really isn't like a rumour because there is video of most of it. This last incident is just cringy. Punching an old man who is minding his own business, and then the old guy just takes the shot and keeps on drinking. At some point even the biggest fan must see the black lining.
For Conor's "aura" to come back he has to be hungry.....and I don't see him getting hungry ever again.

I think Conor McGregor will always produce good viewing numbers, at least for the next 2-3 fights, because he's exciting as hell and hypes up fights very well. I think the way he is trash talking also makes people tune in just to laugh when he gets his ass kicked afterwards (part of my feelings for sure).

That said, I don't think he wins many fights at lightweight. At his natural weight class, he cannot KO people easily and almost everyone at lightweight has better skillset.

Only guy I would imagine Conor could beat is maybe Al Laquinta or Justin Gaethje. And still those fights would be wars. But against anyone technical he would fail, including against Pettis (which would be my ideal fight for him in terms of entertainment value).

I think there a bit different though in that Rousey's hype was more built on dominance, the Nate fights shifted Conor always from that kind of champ and more towards a love/hate character(which he was somewhat already but became moreso) who was garneted entertaining matches.

Conor now is more car crash TV and I think the main danger is people start to think its just too tasteless to watch.

Does he has a fight lined up? Shown something other than odd twitter post? Basic answer is no, full answer is still no, he got outclassed and stopped by Floyd (who would had thought, right?), Then comes back only to get outclassed in MMA, aura is long gone.

Not at this rate. The only thing he adds to now is his rap sheet.

Depends on what aura TS is talking about. The mystic mac aura was gone after the Diaz fights imo

He still has the big star aura in the UFC if that means anything these days
there are so many big stars now it doesnt even make him special
