International Can china beat the US?

There can't be a major conventional war between 2 nuclear powers. But China surpassing the US in terms of conventional military power is inevitable if it hasn't already happened. A lot of the US's numbers are "legacy" meant from building up assets over decades that create a mirage of superiority that just isn't real. China can produce state of the art stuff quickly and if they were to lose their current assets they could replace them quickly. If China lost half their navy in a hotwar they could come back from that and still win if the US lost half its navy in a hot war the wars over.

They aren't going to fight so that doesn't matter nearly as much as it once would have. The US could have kept their status as the worlds number 1 power with the number 2 military. The reason the US will lose their status is their austerian capitalist ideology that they have tried to impose on the world against its will.

China has been a world superpower for 5000 years. They had a very complex civilization thousands of years before the Roman empire even began

There is no war. China have beaten everyone and will continue to thrive long after the US has become a 3rd world country hundreds of years from now. They are one of the most resilient, if not the most resilient, civilization in all of human history.

We are good warmongers. They might beat us economically

Since they have Russia in their pocket. I’m quite not sure. And we have way more enemies than we think. Iran , turkey, North Korea , Russia would side with them. And well Germany is starting to fall apart economically speaking. France is not what it used to be. I think it would be very even matchup.

I'm actually surprised at the amount of people that think China would stand a chance against the US.

I feel like the states could declare war on the entire world and win. Not sure how ignorant that sounds but I'm willing to be educated.

Any war between the 3 major superpowers becomes a war of attrition, large nations such as the US, China, and Russia are very difficult to cripple let alone destroy with anything other than nukes. It's not like Desert Storm where we can run them over quickly before our weapons stockpiles run out, it'll be like the war in the Ukraine but on a much larger scale. And that's where the problems begin, the US doesn't have the industry to replace losses, it takes years to build a single ship and there's no way to ramp it up since we don't have the shipyards or even the industry needed to build new shipyards in a reasonable amount of time. Then there's stuff like TNT which you need for all those missiles & bombs you're dropping, the US doesn't even have a TNT factory and likely won't have one until 2030. Kinda hard to win a war when you can't even make explosives to blow shit up.

None of the 3 superpowers have enough weapons stockpiled for a decisive initial strike, however, China & Russia have a shitload of heavy industry & factories which can crank out obscene numbers of replacements in a prolonged war. The US does not and will not for the foreseeable future, in fact it continues to de-industrialize which just makes things even worse.

Yeah you might need to brush up on your history. It’s been up and down their whole history

This isn't the 1940s. Americans sold off their industrial capabilities for cheap foreign labor, most young Americans are too busy making tik toks or whatever to join the military to fight.
In a total war, I'd wager both sides would give up after awhile and make peace.

They've been up and down, but they've always been a world player. Always. They've had toilet paper before almost everyone else started using paper money. And they always get back up on their feet while other civilizations have stayed at the bottom after sinking.

If China and the USA ever go full out in war, the world is fucked. Lets hope we never know the true answer to this question.

With all that being said, China's military is highly untested and unexperienced. There are many more factors, but just on that alone I give the edge to the United States.

Well that wouldn't be a one on one war anyways. . .

China is going to pull in North Korea, Russia, and Iran.

Russia is already tied up with Ukraine so they are not a threat and North Korea will just fire off a few nukes. They will probably land in the ocean or fall on China.

The US will pull in Europe, Taiwan, Japan, Israel, Canada, Australia, and some other countries. Plus the US has global bases.

USA with the win. China knows this which is why they don't attack Taiwan.

I dont think so but its getting closer than any superpower was close in a while. Some say China is in for a bad time in future but dont know. The amount US is spending on military makes it hard to compete even if im sure there is a lot of money wasted.

One of the articles that I read talked about this ability of China to build ships and planes and that their ability to mass produce munitions is so far beyond ours that we could never last in a long war with them.

There was some fear mongering in this article, but at the same time I found myself thinking where does all our money go if we can't build ships fast enough to replace them in a war with China?

The United States military can't account for 60% of its budget and I think that's a national security issue and I wonder why more people aren't extremely pissed off about it and forcing people to explain where the money actually goes in a time when we can't keep up with China in production of warships and airplanes.

The idea that we are asleep and resting on our laurels and prideful enough that we don't realize that we could be falling behind in a serious way, spooks me a bit

I don't want this to be a political thread particularly, but we do have a lot of allies and maybe it's naive, but when Trump talks to our allies the way he does even recently threatening them, it really concerns me that we could lose some of these great friends we have that keep us safe in some ways in the world.

Seems like in a time when Russia seems to be on the move and China is building up a massive military that we would want to strengthen our bonds with our allies more than ever.

China doesn't have a deep sea navy and they import half their food and energy, in a conventional fight they will be starving to death within a year.

Can you explain this because that's the thing the article that I read seemwd to disagree with you on. They were saying that China is cranking out tons of submarines and tons of warships way more than we can and that it's not even close and that they're increasing their production rates over time.

They did talk about how it's counterbalanced by our technology being better, but the article that I read seemed to suggest that it wasn't going to matter with the kind of numbers that China's putting out.

This is the one that got me thinking how in the hell could we be asleep like that and not be producing way more ships and submarines.
