Many women in Asia are not in the circumstance of prostitution necessarily by choice more than by necessity. The money is exceptional for someone who lacks skill and sometimes the income is the only one supporting the family and such. This part of the world is much different than Europe and the US as in they are usually not alcoholics or IV drug users and are usually responsible as to not catch STD's from the clients. Comparing pro's between the western world and Asia is very different and from my experience would be a bad comparison, escorts in the western world are considered very low on the social ladder.

Several of my wife's friends were bar girls from when they had lived in Thailand who were lucky enough to meet that special John who married them and took them away from that life. I might add that these girls are not looked down upon and this is actually a fairly common occurrence to come out from that type of situation, become a wife and lead a normal life. When I heard this for the first time I was in disbelief, than the spouse started naming her "friends" that had been the n this particular circumstance at one time, crazy but true.

What other countries are you talking about? Asia is a big place. Not all of Asia is like Thailand

I wonder whether prostitutes who end up having a child by their pimp or a john have trouble nurturing that child.

OP question is kind of spurious, as it presupposes that prostitutes (or anyone performing a socially undesirable occupation) cease to be human. Or that they wholly become what they do.
Could the dude from American Sniper ever truly love, even though he sniped children for a living?

The other question is, can a woman who exchanges sex for dinner, gifts, attention, fame, etc. ever truly love? Or does the barter system not count?

Of course they can. At the end of the day, prostitution is just casual sex. We all partake. Love goes a bit deeper than that.

The question should be, "Could you love a prostitute, knowing their history?"
