I was watching a video on Stipe vs Ngannou. The gentleman said "If Ngannou wins, and a couple after he will become a star". I honestly don't see it. Every single time he talks, either Lenny from Of mice and men pops in my head or recently John Coffey from The Green Mile.

Which non english/ESL fighter is the closest to mega fame or possess the abilities to get there? I can't think of one.

I barely can understand anything that drunk Irish says.

Who the fuck looks like that in UFC ? Being different makes you stand out.

You have to add into the factor that he is KO'ing every motherfucking HW to the moon.

He doesn't even need to talk.

Conor/Ronda fame maybe not but i think he will become a star for sure.

I'd say English is a second language to Conor. So, yes.

GSP is ESL and he is the GOAT. He's had PPV buys bigger than Ronda and PPV buys in the same neighbourhood as Conor (in MMA). He might not be quite as known to the casuals as Ronda and Conor, but he isn't that far off.

The answer is Georges St Pierre.

He can become a star, but I doubt it would reach Conor/Ronda levels. You probably need to be able to do a lot of press, talkshows and the likes to achieve that cross over level of fame.

Of course they can't. They can somewhat become a star in UFC terms, but nothing like Conor/Ronda who transcended mma.

Ronda made it through 3 things. After being photoshopped to fuck, she is actually borderline attractive. She was tearing through the division at the time. She was kinda able to talk trash and people lapped it up.

In the same way, Conor gave a series of highlight knockouts whilst walking through a division, his image stands out from other fighters and has by far the best trash talk in mma.

You need the skills, the looks and the ability to talk. The majority of people need it to get interested.

Manny Pacquiao has done pretty well for himself as a star.

I aggree with your post in general, not this though. She's looked pretty good a number of times when not photoshopped (talkshows, weigh-ins etc). It's more that she doesn't carry excess weight that well.

Yeah Woodley, everyone who isn't racist loves watching that guys superflashy risk taking KO artist style.

Having a quick google there are some where she does look good.

And others where she looks like a transsexual they pulled straight from the world of Mad Max...

While I hate that dress, I kinda think she looks cute here.

In US, I doubt it.

Undefeated Fedor after crushing an ex UFC champion did worst than Kimbo on a TUF episode.

Keep in mind that Ronda was a product of the UFC’s hype machine. They shoved her down people’s throat like there was no tomorrow and the casuals bought it.

Conor deserves credit for marketing himself better than anyone else in MMA.

If Dana and Co were to get behind a fighter and really push, they can definitely make a difference.

if it were that easy, they would be able to create a star if they so chose. So why don't they? It's simple: Ronda had what it took to become a star - and obviously she was helped by being promoted.

They had subtitles for Bisping in TUF so I assume most Americans have no idea at all what Conor is saying.

That suggests that being able to be understood by Americans doesn't matter.

Look at Conor before he was a superstar and look at him now. Ngannou just needs a load of shitty tattoos, a ginger beard and to loose to a very average fighter in a non tile fight after beating Stipe and then he'll be up there with Conor.
