When I was stationed in California my shop super was a retired Air Force MSgt. He was so ate up. He demanded that when we used the shop radios we use call signs of 62 Alpha, 62 Bravo, etc. instead of just saying "Hey Dave, can you meet me on the B-52 side of the base, we have a leak at one of the pump stations." There were 4 military and 3 civilians in our shop. No one else heard our radio convos so it was just stupid, really, really stupid.
I don't have a call sign cause I am seriously never on the net. I think mine would be "Sentinel 2" right now if I was ever on. Closest I have to a nickname is everyone calls me Officer____ instead of LT____ due to me being a cop on the civilian side.
Don't know when you were in Yemen but still, F that shithole.
When I was in AF in the '80s the last place any one wanted to go was Turkey. Turkey seems like Disney World compared to Yemen.
My old chief called everyone underneath him some permutation of shit, fuck, dick, or ass and head, bag, or bird (ie. dickhead, shitbird, shitbag, fuckhead, etc.). That's sort of a nickname, right?
"Joker" in boot camp because I looked like Matthew Modine's character in Full Metal Jacket with the glasses. This mostly carried over into infantry school.
One of my friends in the military had some of his Marine friends come with us to do some shooting. One of the guys nicknames was "Massacre"Apparently he got the name from clearing houses and shit.
Now that is just slightly scary for a nickname like that, but it will make someone stop and think twice before they give him any shit.

Yeah lol he was pretty cool for the short time I was around him, just went shooting and had some lunch afterward. It was pretty interesting hearing his friends call him that from time to time tho.
I imagine that would be cool to here someone called that casually. My son has a friend they call Critical Will because when he get into a fight with someone they are in the hospital in critical condition. He's a polite enough guy and will even warn people when they are crossing the line, but I suppose they think he's kidding when he says he's about to send them to the hospital.
lol that is hilarious.
My nickname in boot camp was Foghorn Leghorn.
