California ranks last place in new quality of life report

I was just in New Orleans last week.... it can't be worse than that.

Is this study saying places with larger % of white people rank high in quality of life? But they are not culturally enriched! And they are cold!

lived in SoCal my whole life, honestly the only thing here that sucks is the traffic

Lol at a study that puts North Dakota at the top of the list while it puts a state where people all across the world let alone people in the US literally dream about having the opportunity to reside in last place.

These 'rankings' for popular consumption are like People magazine's '50 Most Beautiful People'.
only matters if it fits your narrative.

if cnn said "breaking news the shroud of turin is actually donald trumps bed sheets" the right will dance like a rabid televangelist on a sunday morning.

The traffic in LA is sooooooooo bad. My family lives there and I can't comprehend how they deal with it. I drove 400 in miles to get there in 5 hours, and once I got passed Magic Mountain it took 2 hours to go 20 miles.

And in the last 20 years NorCal has gone to shit with endless sprawl. It is turning into a place like LA. I hate people. I need to move.

Traffic on either side of the bay is getting ridiculous. Not as bad as LA (and the smog there doesn't even wave a stick at Los Angeles) but still a pain in the ass. I feel like the infrastructure around there is absolutely shit, too. Can't drive 5 miles without needing to avoid 7-8 potholes.

Just move closer to where you work if you live in SoCal. Maybe not possible for everyone, but it worked for me. Had a job out of Newport and lived in Huntington. The commute was fine.

Work out of DTLA now and live in Pasadena. The commute is not bad.

It's all the filthy olds that still live in CA that will do 2 1/2 hour 50 mile commutes out of the city centers.

I agree that people dream about living here. But they're dreaming of the warm weather, the ocean, the palm trees, wearing shorts year round, etc.

They don't tend to dream about the smog, the traffic, the homeless, the income tax and all of that stuff that you actually deal with every day.

Personally I still like California but it ain't paradise. But hey, everything comes with a cost.

Own or rent?

I skateboarded to work this morning basked in the sun and the ocean breeze in Santa Monica. Air isn't bad near the beach. I interviewed a couple gorgeous women for my creative job in the entertainment industry, and am leaving early to meet another at one of the better restaurants in the city (probably the country) for lunch. On the way home I'll surf it there's time and stop at the Firestone walker brewery and grab some of the more rare and better beer in the country. Could catch the Kings game at the Staples center tonight.

That's a pretty normal Thursday in LA for a lot of folks. What the fuck could you do in North Dakota on the Thursday that could touch that with a stick?

Well, you could have a house with a very large yard full of trees. You could fashion a pretty big stick at that point.

That's true. I miss my yard. The beach and drivable access to mountains is pretty good substitute but I wouldn't choose to live downtown or in Hollywood.

How cold was it on the beach this morning? I'm down in Dana Point and no way would I have found the ocean breeze pleasant this morning. I let my dog out to pee in my pajamas and my balls jumped into my body.
