It's probably the truth of it. Deliberate land grab, presumably for smart city purposes, and a distraction to keep people arguing about DEI and along Democrat/Republican lines. Even if you tell them there's something more to it, people are so engaged in the political theater it doesn't even register.

You’re behind the times man. Most of your right wing buddies have moved on from pretending climate change isn’t real. I guess for them it was becoming too obvious to continue ignoring. You’re supposed to say “it’s real but it’s not man made”. Get with the program.

Here in Europe it gets called 'global warming' in the summer, then 'climate change' when winter comes about.

And as the damage increases, so does the price tag.
In a new estimate, the weather-data platform AccuWeather puts the total cost between $250 and $275 billion and calls the damage "catastrophic." The full cost of the wildfires won't be clear until long after the smoke clears, and expensive rebuilding efforts could take years.

This is the first time I have ever seen MSM/Left leaning outlets actually call out the incompetent left leadership. This Mayor is taking it in the ass from everyone. Her Deputy is on leave for bomb threats. She pushed for all these budget cuts and money went to migrants. Newsome continues to look like a jackass and the left are turning on them both so fast. I guess because many of them live or have homes and or family in the area. When you are finally affected by the policies, you see through the smoke (pun intended). CNN and MSN are BLASTING the preparation, budget cuts, lack of resources.

The lesbian fire chief opened the door when she threw the mayor under the bus by saying the City had fucked over the Fire Department and left city unprepared.
Then the articles came out showing that the fire chief had warned the mayor that they Fire Department was in trouble... underfunded, undermanned and several pieces of equipment waiting to be repaired.
Once she publicly said something... it was open season

The irony in this thread is like a heavy fog. Here you are calling people sheep, but you’re the one bleating out the lie in the face of overwhelming evidence.
I don’t know if climate change played a factor in this fire. Climate change isn’t to blame for everything. It’s hard to get any real answers about this fire right now. This thread is thick with nothing but name calling and social media posts filled with buzzwords. No one seems interested in the truth and especially it tools like you.

to those who firmly believe in climate change, why is it that the only solutions put foward are ones that redistribute wealth, limit freedoms of citizens while universally carving out exemptions for the actual mega polluters ?

we've had fires like this in this similar area, seven years ago:
even if it's due to "global warming", the solution to global warming is never going to materialize in our lifespan, and real solutions need to be investigated. Maybe clearing brush? Creating a fireproof buffer zone? Underground electric? There was an early indicator of this happening, the insurance industry left, they couldn't afford the losses.
fires are going to happen in cali, whether it's nature or man made, and it shouldn't burn down entire neighborhoods...............
at this point, folks building in these areas need to protect their own, government aint doing it, roof mounted sprinkler systems

And the second half is why there is no conversation. You start a paragraph with “solutions to climate change” but then start listing off things that mitigate wildfires. Do you not see the problem there?
