I was on a drill team for the Volleys for years. The number of balls dropped here is unbelievable. For a few reasons. 1. It's LA County. Tons of money, tons of big names. Tons of resources. 2. It's an area KNOWN for these issues.
I am a guy that hates pointing fingers when there is a disaster that is unprecedented. But this area is prime for fires and winds that make the problem 10x worse and has had them before. And what do the people in charge do? Nothing. No evac route, no emergency plan. Gridlock on escape routes with NO police presence after they ordered evac. Not an emergency plan for when water runs out. A 17.9 million cut to the LAFD, which most like cost lives here. Money for so many nonsensical things but cut LAFD in an area that needs it. Incredible. Not to mention no preventative measures such as cutting and clearing brush that feeds these fires. All the money that went to reservoirs that never got done, the dam issues, Newsome is a disaster. Mayor is a disaster. Fire Chief seems to be unqualified, but at least alerted Mayor to the issue in early December.
