I don't know why but I randomly get these calf muscle strains and the pain is unbearable. I really don't think I have a low calcium diet but maybe I do.

Does anyone have any tips on how to prevent them? They seem to happen at random moments (putting on socks for example)

drink more water. add some potassium to your diet. magnesium wouldn't hurt either. Also might want to stretch you calf muscles and feet a bit. I've found stretching my feet (or having my massage therapist do it) has helped a lot. and of course, massage doesn't hurt.

stretching will go along way also drink more water eat bananas and potato

per the recommendations of a local health food store, i supplement branch chain amino acids after every hard workout session involving my legs and i havent had any additional problems.

I used to get shin splints or upper calf pains that were so unbearable i could barley walk, and i lived in an upstairs apartment.
