There are different reasons why those phrases are used. In a perfectly balanced world saying brown pride would be just as stupid as saying white pride, but we don't live in that perfectly balanced world.

White pride only exists as an expression of superiority. Brown or black pride only exist as the result of centuries of oppression.

I'm proud of the achievements of my Italian and German ancestors, but I don't credit the color of their skin. A lot of black people have no idea where their ancestors were taken from, so skin color is a much bigger part of their identity. Brown pride was adopted by people who were also the target of discrimination.

I don't understand the need to begrudge them this and pretend not to understand why it's different. I've heard you talk about your history plenty of times and white was never a necessary part of the narrative. You certainly never made it one.

Then they best shove their pride right up their asses before white people start expressing their discontent at their version of superiority expressed through moral superiority. Right?


You don't fix problems by taking the same steps that were taken to create that problem. And in this case the very foundation of those steps is selective enforcement of rules based on nothing other than skin colour. I get why and I understand it, but I'm telling you it's wrong, counterproductive and will perpetuate the very same problems those most likely to give it a pass are against. Be the solution, don't just (not directed at you) talk about it. That's where I'm coming from and is the reason I begrudge them this.

I want everyone to be equal and be treated the same. And step 1 of doing that is treating everyone equally and the same. Not by making exceptions based on melanin content.
