So we got this new manager at our restaurant at work and man do they treat him like shit. The cooks just completely ignore everything he asks and when he speaks up they simply say "get the fuck out of my kitchen" They all do it and I'm not sure why. I used to think it was funny but now I'm starting to feel bad for the guy. It's gotta be horrible to go to work everyday and get treated like that. I've known all the cooks ten+ years and never seen them treat anyone like that. Anyone like that where you guys work? I've never seen it that bad in a work environment

I haven't dealt with him much but he seemed ok when I did. He's definitely not the touch em with the jab type though lol

It's OK for a manager to be a nice guy. However, the only way this stops is he has to put his foot down and be the boss. He needs to meet with the cooks and set the ground rules and tell them and they cross it, disciplinary action will be taken. Once he suspends or fires someone, it will stop.

People can be real dicks at work. Simply, we're all out there making a living and if I'm happy in life and you're happy in life and we're both getting paid than live and let live. Being rude to a coworker for no reason is a true showing of insecurity and envy and pure jimmy rustledness.

I honestly think it's gone too far already. Even the heads of other departments tell him to go fuck himself....it's pretty bad

I guess he came into the restaurant right before it closed with a few people and made everyone stay and work late just for him. That was one reason they don't like him. It's definitely something he did but it doesn't justify how they're treating him and I honestly don't know what would

I've dealt with lots of em working in health care. normal i wait till they fuck up,and they will,then in make sure everyone knows it. if things get really bad,then i wait till its me and them and ask em what the fuck is their problem.

Now that that's out of the way cooks are a whole different kettle of parahna. I have never worked in a restaurant but worked in buildings with them in doing security and 3 times we have had to be called to remove a cook due to fighting. I tend to get along with everyone, including cooks, however when I've witnessesed how they talk to the other staff members (most who I'm close to) I've ended up fighting fire with fire to a degree. No favours, everything by the book for you.

That said I know a few cooks in real life (outside work) and they are all sound and I could never imagine them behaving in the manner you describe or what I have witnessed.

In regard to general bullies I have dealt with a lot in various industry's and watched many of them fall and it's very satisfying. I've also seen a few who have played the game to perfection, created buffers between them and MD level management and ended up with several holiday homes in Spain. That sucks but hey it's life.

Ever notice that work bullys always leave straight away at leaving do's or Christmas parties? They know what will happen outside work after one too many ciders!

The fact that there's a bunch of guys working at the same restaurant for 10 years explains why they're such cunts.
