Buckley is both a uncoordinated (akward) and a great athlete at the same time, started too late?

You can be a great athlete and lack fine motor coordination. You see plenty of great athletes on a basketball court who can rebound and defend really well but aren't great ball handlers and can't shoot to save their life. Same thing on the football field, a guy can run and jump like a deer but couldn't catch a cold. It's not all that uncommon.

This is a pretty bad take, sorry OP. Buckley is very athletic and quite coordinated. I don't know how you think his movement is not good when his movement is what got him the KO against WB, I also don't know how you came to the conclusion that he isn't comfortable in there..

The fact that a guy like Buckley is at the top of a division in the biggest mma org in 2024 just solidifies that mma is dying. Its like we’re back to 1950. These generations spend more time on their phones and social media then training.

Guy has explosive power with good TDD.

That’s a recipe for success in any era.

Oh shit! The "next generation" is focusing more on what's coming than what has been?
No the next generation is just following dumb trends on tik tok like having a rizz face or morons like ishowspeed. You'd have a point if a decent percentage of them were weaponising technology for their/humanities future but it just looks more and more like idiocracy everyday.

Not sure what that other guy was on about, and you're in the same boat as him. I would think that we would still want modern-day fighters to focus on fighting and training rather than their phones. . . unless you like the social media/prestige aspect of MMA fighters more than the actual sport. In that case. . . fair enough?

You'll see when Edwards or someoe elite in their prime is in front him

Yes, but in this case it will spell his downfall at the very highest level. He doesn't have an equalizer like Perreira

Yeah, I don't see him as a championship level fighter. But not sure what the Poatan reference is. He's definitely not in the "great athlete who lacks fine motor coordination" camp. Just see the video of him kicking a soccer ball and then shooting it with an arrow.

It also helps that he’s fighting 40 year olds with over a decade MMA wear and tear…

He didn’t look so fast against contemporaries like Kevin Holland who styled on him all fight.

It's fucking weird how everyone is trying to criticize Buckley, when he's fixed his main weaknesses over the years.

If you wanna say bad cardio, maybe old Buckley. Or TDD, he's developed a good ground game. He's stayed an explosive striker that can KO you in the later rounds.

I think he's as ready as he's going to be for the belt. Could be champ. If he was uncoordinated he wouldn't have landed that viral kick.

Great athlete, some would say... Explosive
Colby fought all the explosive fights GSP wouldn't.

Buckley is awesome. He was hard to listen to at 1st, but his violence speaks louder than words. Becoming must see.

yea i didn't write the message you quoted me in.
This is the bullshit that results when you're more worried about driving up your post count as soon as possible instead of actually participating with thought out responses.

It's funny how Colby was endlessly criticized for fighting old guys (though he gave prime Usman two very tough fights). Yet what really good fighter has Buckley beaten who wasn't washed (Wonderboy, Colby) or on a losing streak (Luque having lost 2 of his prior 3 fights)?

You can do awesome things in isolation while still being poorly coordinated. His footwork is garbage

He has those huge, all natty American tits.

The longer I’m on this forum the more I realize most of you don’t know what the fuck you’re watching. Terrible take from many of you. Buckley may not ever take gold but he is elite by any definition and could beat any WW in the world under the right circumstances l.
Thats the problem, the fact that a bum like Buckley with a limited skillset could beat any WW in 2024 is scary. Its like we’re back in 1950, mma is dying…
