Now that I’ve got your attention w the clickbait thread name, just wanted to see what you guys thought about him being able to use his legs/feet so effectively in transitions to manipulate/reposition/destabilize Ige. There was that one sequence where Ige should’ve been in Mitchell’s half guard except that Mitchell did some ninja shit w his feet to rotate Ige and recover into a body triangle.

He’s clearly wacky as we saw in the interview, but we already knew that. I always saw him as a dude w farm strength, relentless, understanding of leverage, and all those things seem to be true, but what I didn’t give him credit for was his technique and precision w his lower body in grappling exchanges.

I guess my question is this: do you think his personality and stereotypically country bumpkin character makes ppl overlook a lot of his skill and technical ability in his grappling?

Interesting. I haven't thought about anyone using their feet specifically for grappling since Royce Gracie used to grasp the cage with his bare toes for leverage.

I wasn't paying as much attention to his feet specifically. He's clearly an elite grappler in his division. His wrestling attacks are very impressive, visually, which I think is why the judges gave it to him in a fight with close rounds where he took significant damage to his face.

That’s what BJ used to do

And I loved it when she did weird shit with her feet during said BJ

BJ Penn is another guy who was always talked about as having crazy foot coordination in his grappling. With Bryce I guess it surprises me cus, stereotypically speaking, I don’t expect a farmer from Arkansas to have the kind of lower body coordination you see from ppl from countries where soccer is crazy popular

We train out of the same affiliation, I’ve trained with Bryce many times. Bryce has cornered me on TV-

ALL WE DO is grapple our asses off day in day out, because there’s nothing better to do with ur time in this area of the country.

What u saw with his feet is correct high level technique.

Bryce definitely doesn't need another fight, that dude needs a serious mental evaluation! He's crazier than a shit house rat!

That's never been a thing, he's always gotten credit but I see you like to try to make something out of nothing to promote your dumb thread. I understand you're just a kid, but he's not using some cheat code, Ige also made mistakes especially when he had a decent base on his knees and didn't reach for the wizor or underhook leading to yet another of many back takes he could have avoided. I think Bryce just had good pressure on him to make it hard but he shoulda worked harder for that underhook. I'm pretty sure you know nothing about grappling or farmboy strength.

I don't know how popular soccer is in Hawaii, but young Penn was a prodigy and athletic freak.

I remember Five time UFC champion in 2 different weight classes,Hall of fame octagon warrior Randy Couture saying he had a very hard time takin BJ penn down.
