News Bruno vows to brawl with Alex Pereria

Seems like a bad idea. But Bruno's a beast in his own right and has legit nuclear KO power. This really does have an extremely similar feel as Khalil Rountree/Gokhan Saki. Nobody gave Rountree a chance in that one against the high level kickboxing champ Saki. And he goes out there and KO's him on the feet with a huge shot down the middle.

Kickboxing and MMA are very different sports. Bruno has a ton of experience in MMA with 28 professional fights, and has won 17 of his last 18 fights with 15 KO's. He's an MMA veteran in his prime with legit skills and big time KO power and finishing ability. It would be foolish to count him out in this one against Perreira who has 5 MMA fights and only started training MMA seriously very recently.

What you say is very true, but I'll still bet Bruno gets KO'd if he tries to brawl.

Gotta love the attitude from Silva, and I like the mention of Wanderlei and Shogun. I wish him the best in the fight, but I think Perreira ends this one in spectacular fashion. Just like his debut, I expect a highlight reel KO.

Sometimes it makes sense. If you are technically deficient and you try to fight a kickboxing champion in their type of fight. You are going to lose anyway. There are many cases of K1 style kickboxers or champions underperforming in the UFC. You might as well stick to what you are good at and try not to change your game.

Excited for this fight, I think Alex gets the job done but Brunos a dangerous man regardless, could pull of the upset.

Do not underestimate Bruno. This could very well turn out like Saki/Rountree
Exactly. We've heard all of this before. I don't think that's a great idea for Bruno, but I do think he'll have a chance regardless.

Apples to oranges Sherbros, just like in MMA, Kickboxing has styles. Perreira is more defensively sound than Saki. It takes a mobile striker to give him trouble and it's already been established that Bruno is a plodder. Anything can happen, just saying this comparison isn't equal.

That's obviously Bruno's best chance. The dude is probably the hardest hitter in the division and there's zero chance he could win a measured technical fight against Alex. The odds are against him but he knows what pathway gives him his best chance

My thoughts exactly. I'm definitely favoring Pereira, but MMA striking has proven to be much different than other forms of striking. I do think it will benefit Bruno to grapple, but I won't be shocked if he finds a way to hurt Pereira on the feet. I don't predict this will happen but I'd love to be proven wrong.

And that's excactly what Pereira wants.
I think he's bullshitting, but he's got same decent hands. It's just not nearly on the same level as Alex.
He'll probably mix his striking with his takedowns and use heavy GnP.
Remember when he did this to Truman?

Silva will fake Pereira out and pretend he's there to bang it out, then go for the takedown at the first available chance <Lmaoo>

Im glad he mentioned guys like wanderlei and the way 90s guys fought. Respect homie those old fights are awesome. anyone who has enough heart to fight that way in today's "one KO loss and you're trash" mma scene is badass

“Speaking for myself, I’m going to brawl, just like I do every fight. Every fight people say the same thing.
I’ve heard all that talk before. It was the same thing back in Russia. ‘You can’t trade shots with Shlemenko, because he’s a specialist’. I don’t care. I’m going to brawl, like I always do.”

If things get complicated on the feet, then I’ll take it to the ground.” “If it goes to the ground, I’m going to throw punches. It’s kill or be killed. I’m old school, like Wanderlei Silva, Shogun Rua or Minotauro, those guys. That’s me. I like to give the fans a thrill. I am for the ones who enjoy a slugfest. That’s what I’m going to do, like I always do.”

"If it goes to the ground I'm going to throw punches" So he won't be going for any submissions then?
Watching Pereira's striking is a real treat. Hoping he can build some momentum and avoid strong grapplers for a while. There's some interesting match ups for him.

I'm keen on both guys, so I wasn't initially pumped on them going head-to-head. It will probably be a great fight, though. if Bruno doesn't caught, this is going to be absolute carnage for as long as it lasts.

Saki uses a high guard and catch and return style, don't think Alex will have the same openings
