He not only won the HW championship, he defended twice.

He won the title from one of the goat champs in Randy. Admittedly on his downward trajectory.

First defense was against a prime Mir who up until recently was on his way back to a title shot.

Second defense was against one of the hardest hitters in UFC history and at the time undefeated monster Shane Carwin. Brock showed incredible heart and resilience in this fight.

His two losses at the end of his UFC run were against one of the top heavyweights ever in Cain and one of the best strikers in MMA history Overeem (back when he was still uber).

The guy defended the strap twice against legit competition which is more than can be said for a lot of former HW champions.

He is a legit fighter and I think people are too quick to dismiss him. He entered MMA and real combat sports late in life, made it to the top and stayed there for a few fights.

He could still be a legit contender in the division. Just look at how crazy it has been in the top 10 this past two years.

WAR BROCK

Agreed. People just forget the Carwin fight happened for some reason or call it a fluke. There was no fluke, Carwin physically could not put brock away

Cherish this moment fellas. Because soon it'll all be gone once again.

Amazing times for MMA.

He has my respect. Diverticulitis is no joke and he won a belt while suffering from it. Also, the fact that he did that with a couple of years training is amazing.

I also respect him for stepping up to fight a top 10 fighter like Hunt. The Legendary Fedor is coming back to fight Maldonado because he wants a safer fight, but Brock just comes in looking for a big fight.

He beat Couture after his 3rd fight.... Enough said...

I think this next fight will determine how much respect he deserves. Maybe he's just looking for another pay-day.

The size difference had absolutely nothing to do with it either.
Tim Sylvia was 6'7'' 300lbs.(2 times UFC HW Champ) Didn't make a difference Vs Couture

Brock started a lot of trouble. Coming from the WWE he changed the way fighters negotiate.
Brock was the 1st to work in ppv buys into contracts, tickets sales. A lot of b.s.
Asking commission for certain refs, trainers were bought and paid to come to him.
Why would he fight an under weight and ready to retire couture

Then after 5 years off he has the balls to step in against Mark Hunt, instead of fighting someone like Jaideep Singh.

Did you just pop through a time warp from 2008?

Dude was HW champ. We know he's legit.

nah, he skipped the wear and tear part of the sport that eventually gets everyone.

Training and fighting 20-30 fights is much much harder than fighting a few fights no matter who the opponents are those few fights

Think of all the injuries these guys have now, its all from the wear and tear that Brock got a break from

Anyone can come out like a house of fire. But can they do that after 30 fights? They basically had to grind their way to the top, much harder then Brock

This forum is filled with trolls and kids, so you'll always get the stupid disrespectful comments about any fighter. Look at Brock's 8 mma fights..

1. Warm up fight
2. 2x UFC champ
3. Grizzled vet Heath Herring
4. Multiple time UFC champ
5. 2x UFC champ
6. Absolute animal Carwin
7. UFC champ
8. K1, DREAM, Strikeforce champ, and in current UFC championship bout.

Respect
