Anyone heard about the buzz on this film? Apparently Brendan Fraser gained close to 600lbs for this role.

That's the rumor that's going around.

He already won an award at Toronto International Film Festival for this role. There isn't much news on him right now when I searched, but that's what's buzzing about this film.

That's unheard of for anyone to do that for a role, I hope it was worth it. Because the repercussions can be very bad.

Although I doubt he actually gained that much weight, that's just unbelievable amount weight to gain and than try to lose. It's too risky. I'm sure they just used prosthetics and CGI to make it realistic enough.

But anyways this could be the role that gets him nominated for an Oscar.

I have not seen it, but I root for him. We all loved his movies growing up, and a bad divorce and unfortunate hair loss really hurt him. Hopefully he hits the treadmill because no role is worth diabetes and heart diseases.

He got pretty big, but definitely not 600lbs. Still looks to be well north of 300lbs in recent photos, but he mentioned all the prosthetics and makeup that went into this character. Hope it’s good. The Mummy and Airheads were high school favorites and I’d like to see him get some good roles again.

Yeah I seriously doubt he gained 600lbs. That's just crazy. But I hope this turns things around for him and he gets more recognition again.

You all realize it’s a fat suit, right?

That's what I would think, but apparently he wanted to make it more realistic so he gained a lot of weight for this role. Though again I don't think he gained 600lbs but he gained enough weight where it would make look like he's morbidly obese.

He looked really fat in that Don Cheadle/DelToro/Matt Damon movie that came out last year, so it’s probably pretty easy to give him a fat suit when his face is already pretty much fat enough to be believable. Hoping he can get back into shape, he’s pretty much good in everything but big fat guy roles are usually pretty limited if you’re not Italian.

Was always a fan. Apparently he got blacklisted in Hollywood because some suit made a pass at him, and he rejected it.

Wonder if he finally caved?
A 600-pound (272 kg) middle-aged man named Charlie tries to reconnect with his 17-year-old daughter. The two grew apart after Charlie abandoned his family for his gay lover, who later died. Charlie then went on to binge eat out of pain and guilt.

I always hated him and his shitty movies growing up.

I root for him now though because life has clearly put him through the ringer.

Also, there's no way he gained 600 lbs. This sounds like one of those BS rumors to get publicity for the movie.

You didn't like his lead role as David Greene, a Jewish high school student who is awarded an athletic scholarship to an elite preparatory school in his senior year in School Ties?
