And Gaethje is even worse off his back than Chandler. Oliveira couldn't submit Chandler in 5 rounds, and that was only a few months before Chandler-Paddy. Oliveira submitted Gaethje almost instantly.

Seems like they are desperate to capture a few markets to generate better numbers for the start of the Paramount deal.

Paddy vs. Gaethje helps the UK market, since Aspinall turned out to be a dud.

Volk vs. Lopes 2 helps the Oceania market since JDM lost his belt, and also targets the Mexican market.

Topuria said he wont fight first quarter, and Gaethje said he'd only fight for the title. So the UFC is using the interim title as a nice loop hole, which is basically what the UFC uses the interim title for.

There's only been like a handful of times the UFC has properly used the interim title.

Well, they fought and Chandler rocked Gaethje and went the distance with him in a Fight of the Night. Gaethje won and as I said, he's not as washed, but he's 37 and clearly no longer at his peak. He was basically a punching bag against Max. If you take away the two Fiziev fights (the second one was very short notice for Rafael), then Gaethje has been finished in 3 of his last 5 fights. And he sucks on the ground, so he better hope he can keep it standing.
