He never met her. Love of your life and you don't go to her when she's 1) in a car accident 2) diagnosed with leukemia 3) fights leukemia aka chemo 4) DIES!!

True dat. If I was truly in love with someone I would give up everything for them. If they are in a crisis, they can expect me to be by their side as soon as I could manage it.

If there is one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb in this case, is why he did not go find her when she told him about these disasters that were happening in her life. He was a football star, making arrangements for travel certainly would not have been an issue.
