I loved it when it came out. Of course I was like 9 and liked anything with sword fighting.

It’s a good movie but definitely a little goofy at times in retrospect. It’s written with a heavy hand for sure.

Seriously?

You might be one of the only people I have ever heard call that movie crap

Yes I'm serious, it's cringey garbage and I feel sorry for anyone who likes it.

This statue is now on display at Brechin City FC and hopefully someone does what needs to be done.

Also, in his motivational speech, I always heard "they can take our WIVES..." But its "they can take our LIVES..." For the longest time, I said wives, despite the subtitles. However, he was just talking about living and dying.

They can take our wives, but they can never take our freedom??!? LMFAO that either doesn’t make any sense or it’s the most brilliant motivational speech ever. If you have a wife, you’ve already given up your freedom.

No. It is a very well done movie. Regardless of how much it offends you. I mean, I love history and it is laughingly inaccurate. But overall it is a well done movie. And like I said in my original post, if it were totally made up fantasy, it would be a fantastic movie.

If we are talking swords there are 2 movies that are the Creme De La Creme:

Braveheart and Gladiator

You could argue a 10 for both movies. I give them both 9.5/10

I really like both movies but I also think they're crazily overrated...

Solid 9.5/10. It has virtually everything you could possibly ask for from a movie. I took off .5 for historical inaccuracies, but theres not too many films that are historically accurate anyway so it didnt have much sway imo.

The acting was top shelf from just about everyone. The score was perfectly made for the film. The directing by Mel was some of the best ive seen from an actor/director. The story flowed seamlessly and the dialogue hit every emotion effortlessly.

A movie I could easily watch every year.

Never given any movie a 10/10, but this is a solid 9/10 as in pretty close. In my opinion one of the best "historical" epics ever made and edges out Gladiator. Just a fantastic film all around.

It was some of the most epic fighting scenes and a precursor to other epic fighting scenes like in LOTR or Gladiator.

It is terribly accurate. It's awful.

But it's wonderful.
