Ank won't wrestle early as much as his backers hope imo. He won't want to deplete his gas tank, and I think he trusts his striking.
Which would suck. I'm going to have a hard time assessing Poatan's legacy one day if he doesn't face at least one competent grappler before retiring.

Liddell was kind of similar at LHW. He mostly fought grapplers suited for his style (striking with strong TDD and ability to get back to his feet when down) until he got old and lost his belt and chin. But at least Liddell fought Belfort and a few other good strikers when he was younger. And he beat Wand before the final nosedive of his career.

Poatan hasn't fought a high-level grappler at MW or LHW, before or after becoming champ.

Not too many of them exist, and the ones that do typically don't get signed by the UFC.

I don’t know

50/50 with this one and neutral in terms of who wins

Alex does fight very dangerous and leaves himself open but at LHW, I expect him not to be as drained so he’ll be able to take a shot, can see him losing GNP but at the same time the ref ain’t going to jump in so we won’t see no early stoppage unless it favour Alex

I think we get Alex TKO 2nd in a early stoppage BS win thanks to the ref

I've said Alex since the announcement of the fight but after re-watching some of Alex's fights just now, I've decided to switch up and go Ank via grinding him down to a decision or very late TKO.

Alex Pereira by R2KO.

Ank to try at most 2 TD's, both defended, as Alex chews up his lead leg and lands the left hook.

Anks crooked nose is gonna be easily breakable and possibly a factor in this fight if poatan establishes his jab

Yeah, not any more. There used to be a lot wrestlers, though, and all the ones at LHW were American except maybe the Janitor. I'm not sure why there's been so little interest in MMA for 185+ pound wrestlers in the last decade or so.

Ank by tko ground and pound first round it wont be competitive at all

Au contraire PB...

Ank MIGHT see the end of round 1, if Alex is extra careful to prevent being taken down,
before Ank gets administered Alex's unstoppable usual dose of Chama Trauma.

I’m going with Ank by decision, but I’m not confident about that pick at all.

You're not wrong...but a lot of that is due to how those divisions currently are constructed.

And the fact, like I said earlier, that wrestlers (especially Americans) have pretty much abandoned the heavier weight classes with a few exceptions. It wasn't that long ago that you could find 2 to 5 wrestlers in the LHW Top 10 (some combination of Couture, Tito, Rashad Evans, Jones, Phil Davis, Bader, Cormier and Corey Anderson, depending on the year between around 2002 to 2017).

Poatan either ends the fight early or it goes the distance.
