What happens if you are about to have sex and she gogoplatas you?
Although I've never done BJJ myself personally, I'm not sure if I could handle my girl doing BJJ with another person. Then again, it depends on her goals.
For example ...
If she's doing it for fun/exercise mainly and doesn't even want to rank up, that's a big no-no, in my opinion. It opens the doors for way too much BS and can put a strain on the relationship. All the other posters above me are correct, more or less! Your girlfriend is rolling around with all of these men, whose first instinct is to get in between a girl's legs and you're allocating it completely. Not cool, my man; not cool at all.
If she was doing it PROFESSIONALLY and took it very SERIOUSLY, then I think I could deal. Look at BJJ practitioners like Leko Vieira, Leticia Ribiero or Kyra Gracie. I doubt they take any bullshit from their male counterparts on or off the mat. They take the game very seriously from what I've seen, and they don't mess around. I think that's why they have an enormous amount of respect FROM men. Guys who just want to fuck around with girls they roll with on the mat know that, in the back of their mind, the girl isn't into the sport as much as they are.
That's just my take on it, though. Take it how you wish.

That's the dumbest shit I've ever read. If you've never trained, don't lead yourself to believe you know what's in the back of any BJJ'ers mind. The girls aren't into the sport as much as the guys? That's a blanket statement, and an ignorant one.Although I've never done BJJ myself personally, I'm not sure if I could handle my girl doing BJJ with another person. Then again, it depends on her goals.

i have this hunch that the TS will never brag anymore.
Untrue. I'm still extremely proud of her for going. I'm going to let a bunch of infantile remarks from a bunch of dudes to insecure to see their girlfriends roll with guys kill my buzz? Not likely.
In response to Yojimbo:
True point, and my sincerest apologies. You're right, and it was/is a blanket statement. I don't think it was necessary to curse since we're both able enough to discuss this issue coherently, though. I did come off a bit ignorant in that statement and I admit to the fact that I am ignorant in the sport of BJJ since I've never done it.
Regardless, however, the cursing wasn't necessary. The aggression I detected in your post -- which probably wasn't there when you wrote it; could be an error of miscommunication on my part -- was a little rough, but I could see why you became that way.

Ah, I see. Props to both you and them, man. I didn't mean to disrespect your teammates or anything like that. I'm definitely sure they've paid their dues and bled, cried and sweat on that same mat. I've no doubt the amount of respect between each combatant in that establishment, regardless of gender. My humblest apologies once more. My statement was really foolish and extremely blanket, too, now that it's sunk in. :\ Can't even believe I said something like that, to be honest.
Take care, man, and keep rolling. I plan to start BJJ soon; I just need to get the cash for it. :[ I just hope you're not in NYC and you recognize me!God forbid the amount of tapping I'll have to do.

So my girlfriend started doing BJJ on the 19th. Woo! She suffers from a lot of anxiety in the gym; she freaks out that she can't remember how to do the moves she's taught, she freaks out when rolling because she thinks her brain is freezing up, and she freaks out because she feels her friend whom she joined with is getting the moves but she isn't. I mean, as much as I try to tell her that all of these things are totally normal and that people who have been doing jiujitsu for years still forget a lot of the moves they get shown, she isn't buying any of it.
But the fact is she's going, and I think she's even enjoying it. It's only been four classes, but I'm quite excited. So I just wanted to brag.![]()
You may now commence with all the bad taste jokes about closed guard, triangles, north-south, getting the third hook in, etc.![]()
