So I recently took up boxing and my coach tells me that I stand with torso completely facing right (I'm orthodox) both feet at 45 angle and lead arm in front of me with upper arm parallel to floor and forearm perpendicular to floor. I've seen many different kinds of boxing stances and was wondering if there was a name for this.

That's a pretty weird stance you're describing. Both feet 45 and upper-arm parallel? Unusual.

My trainer called the stance a "45" but the arm placement seems odd. I've seen some orthodox guys hold their lead hand over their face, while keeping their right down, torso turned away a little more than usual.

But that sounds like a good way to eat a hook against another righty.

The arm position seem weird, way to high and leaving the body wide open. Got a picture?

Are you roughly describing what he said, or did he use those words? Parallel and perpendicular. Usually you would keep your elbows in a little tighter for some body protection, and thus your upper arm is not quite perpendicular.
