Not to rehash this subject again, but I know it the past people have asked what type of pay non-stars get in boxing. Last night NBC showed boxing. It's Al Haymons stable of fighters and I while most boxing fans know Thurman is a rising star and Guerrero fought Mayweather, niether has really been a head liner throughout their careers (Guerrero because of Mayweather). Anyway here was the pay from last nights card:

Keith Thurman

We a know ufc.fighters get paid shit compared to what they produce

Shame on UFC

UFC pay for non main event fighters is actually better than boxing. But boxing main event fighters make more.

So overall UFC pay is not so bad

Also, this isn't a situation were HBO or Showtime is paying a ton of money to show the fight or where a casino is paying a ton of money to host the fight. AL Haymon is paying the fighters or of pocket much like the UFC does.

How much boxing paid first 20 years?

Way much more than the UFC.

But what does that have to do with how much the UFC makes compared to what they pay their fighters?

Keith Thurman – $1.5 million vs. Roberto Guerrero – $1.225 million
Adrien Broner – $1.25 million vs. John Molina – $450,000
Abner Mares – $500,00 vs. Arturo Santos Reyes – $20,000

Keep in mind Molina has last almost every fight he's been in over the past two years.

Keep in mind that Shertards claim only Floyd and Manny are the only ones making big money.

Yes lord knows no boxers are broke. I mean there are zero stories out there of boxers struggling to pay bills and fighting in shitty arenas for almost no pay until they reached the top..

Never happens..

Just comparing. I have no idea how much money UFC making currently. Aren't they losing lately. We had few articles around here.

That's ridiculous. They're are small mma shows all over the country just as there are small boxing shows all over the country. No one is talking about those.

Boxing is all about the right promoter.. If you don't have that you are a low level nobody. Hagler was making 500 bucks a fight when he started.. We are talking about guys fighting on NBC. How many boxers will get that chance in their careers?

Someone like Jon Jones probably ends up taking home as much as the entire card there when it's all said and done. And sure it's nothing compared to champs in boxing but on the overall spectrum he hasn't been in the game nearly as long. A few other things to take in also is there are double the fights on a ufc card too. Ticket and ppv prices are all way more for boxing as well. I feel if the ufc wants to gain more money makers and stars if they start fighters off with a signing bonus so they can 100% dedicate themselves to training and not have to worry too much about expenses and all the other crap.

BTW aren't they talking about 100 bucks on the PPV for Manny/Floyd? Gee what a bargain..

Not only boxers but athletes in general go broke not even necessarily because they get paid badly but beause they can't handle money properly MMA is a young sport so there aren't yet many stories like that but many MMA fighters will go broke as well and many probably already are

Well yes it matters what promoter you have, but then again isn't the UFC The largest promotion in MMA? Yesterday's cards didn't have any true ppv attractions or main event fighters aside from Broner. And I think a fair comparison would be comparing pay for the UFC on Fox fighters to those on Premier Boxing on NBC. Although there was no Cain defending the heavy weight championship type fight or hype on Yesterday's card.

At the top the boxers get paid more, at the bottom boxers sometimes get paid less. The ceiling is just higher for boxers than MMA

And I would argue it is better for the sport that MMA fighters are paid less. Because they are more inspired to fight the top names in the sport to make the high end of their pay scale. Floyd ducked Manny for years mostly because he was making 30 mil fighting past their prime legends like Mosley. In the UFC one of the first super fights was GSP/BJ 2. I don't like the chances of that one getting put together at all if they were not fighting under the UFC. If they had separate promoters both holding belts with the ego's involved the fight would have been incredibly complicated to make. In the UFC it was pretty easy. Yes they were paid less but they did fight in their primes and didn't treat us to 7 years of "Maybe one day it will happen"..
