Yup. Totally seems to be working out. That's why it's smart for Francis Ngannou to jump to boxing, nothing left for him in the UFC.

For a fight where the A-side is British? Wasn't at least one of the fights in London as well? Bro you're literally retarded. In boxing, they count PPV sales from numerous countries as they don't have free broadcast deals like the UFC does. You MUST be a retard

Last Saturday's boxing match between Tank Davis & Ryan Garcia did 1.2 million PPV buys and had a gate of $22.8 million
The 2 highest UFC's gates were McGregor vs Alvarez in NYC and McGregor vs Khabib in Vegas.
Both sports are amazing but it's clear that worldwide Boxing is still more popular than MMA. A big Boxing fight will always be bigger than anything MMA can produce. Boxing is filled with more genuine characters while UFC guys play roles like in the WWE.

It's a gamble. You are right if he gets the Fury fight but he's given away millions to take that gamble. That's why it's smart for Francis Ngannou to jump to boxing, nothing left for him in the UFC.
When you adjust for inflation, Tank vs. Garcia only did about $300k more in live gate, so I wouldn't describe that as "shattering".Last Saturday's boxing match between Tank Davis & Ryan Garcia did 1.2 million PPV buys and had a gate of $22.8 million

post ticket stubs? I’m not a teenager going to a Motley Crue concert.
I gurantee you the closer you are the worse the view is and even mid price level are very bad.
tons of camera men. The posts you’re viewing small guys through a a black fence. There is nothing good visually about it b
They count primarily US PPVs. Most contracts have a literal clause that only counts foreign PPVs if they are over a certain price when it comes to backend. Also boxing tends to have similar deals to the UFC in a lot of countries, where it's distributed as part of a larger TV package. For a fight where the A-side is British? I don't imagine you hang around a lot of teens and 20 year olds? All I know is, I know a ton of MMA fans in my area, but only like 2 boxing fans.
Not a big sample size, but just my face value perspective.
That and it was also just a near sellout.Tickets to live events are so much more expensive than they were pre-covid. Suckers appear to be happily paying these inflated prices (thanks a lot).
Maybe that's why the gate was so impressive.
Boxing also has an awful record of putting together good undercards for major fights.
You can look it up my man, for Fury vs Wilder all of them, they counted UK PPV's as well. Also, saying "boxing" has deals similar to the UFC is misleading. I'm sure lower tiered fights and some smaller/less popular events get some deals, but the top events are like 90% PPV in places the UFC would be free. Calling any of the fury wilder fights a bust because of "low" US PPV sales is crazy imo considering how much the sold overall evidentlyThey count primarily US PPVs. So pretty much only if Conor fights. Got it. I was wrong though lol, idk why I thought those were for belts
I stand corrected, you're right on that

They aren't just lumped in for buys. The first fight did 325K in the US, and a bit more in the UK. The second fight did about 800K linear, 300K more on digital. Whenever you see an American promoter of the UFC talking about PPV buys, they are almost always talking US buys. UK buys are tallied separately and reported differently since 1, they are a lower price, and 2, they often are going to different promoter or fighter. You can look it up my man, for Fury vs Wilder all of them, they counted UK PPV's as well. The only place that fight was free to watch was panama bro. Are you trying to say this is a unique thing to the Fury/Wilder fight? They aren't just lumped in for buys. Also since you seem unaware, the first Fury Wilder match actually lost money. It was made up for in the rematches.
And no it isn't for boxing. For example, most UK fights are either reduced or included in subscriptions, unless it's a big fight. Same model as the UFC.
People have no idea that boxing will remain (and/or get back on its feet) because the history of boxing even in its Queensbury rules infancy was still so much greater than MMA in its infancy. 10s of thousands of people turning up to watch a boxing bout 80+ years ago when the only advert was a newspaper, word of mouth or radio. You say that like the UFC hasn't ridiculously hiked event prices since WME took over.
Inflation adjusted it's among the top 25 or so biggest combat sports events in gross revenue. It's no joke. Also fyi since most people don't know this, most mega UFC or boxing events today pale in magnitude to old boxing events.
1.2 million off two draws in effectively their first big fight is impressive anyway to cut it. There's only a handful of boxers and mma fighters ever who have had bigger PPV debuts.
It doesn't matter if it's boxing or mma, fans have this bizarre idea that breaking a million PPV buys is somehow routine and not almost 9 figure revenue.
