Boxing match shatters UFC's highest gate record

Last Saturday's boxing match between Tank Davis & Ryan Garcia did 1.2 million PPV buys and had a gate of $22.8 million
$1100 a ticket on average...
That means the good tickets were way more than $1100 each... WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY! jesus its not even that fun to watch a boxing card in person.. floor seats had to be like $10k... I guess if you just have I don't give a fuck money who cares...

Yup. 10 years ago.
Well I guess you have a different definition of extremely rare then, because I haven't even mentioned all the ones I could, those were just off the top of my head. Kambosos Jr just fought Teofimo and Devin Haney, two top young undefeated boxers while also being undefeated himself. Also, Davis moved up and fought Barrios and they were both undefeated, so Idk if you can even say it's rare for Davis. People like you make boxing seem so much worse than it actually is.

Eh boxing has a lot more high profile fights to make, they're just few and far between. I don't have all the numbers but I feel like the UFC does way better on average while boxing has better superfights. A lot of "casuals" were very intrigued by the Tank and Garcia fight, outside of Diaz or Mcgregor in MMA there's not many people that can pull that type of hype.

Lot of n00bs in this thread, thinking Boxing only has 3 notable fight per year. Boxing has great fights monthly.
Well, it's a karate forum, Mr Soprano. Go to a boxing forum and you will find people getting excited about boxing events every weekend like we all get excited about UFC events each weekend here!

Honestly, I don't know why you guys measure dicks all the time about which one is bigger or better. As if anybody is currently watching MMA just because it's more popular and would switch sports upon learning that it's not. The sports are very different. I started watching MMA when it was minuscular compared to boxing and if tomorrow the sport goes back to being that small I will still watch it over boxing. I just don't enjoy watching boxing and I love MMA.

I'm only a fan of mma because Dana said it was bigger than soccer.

Really interested in franks next move. Feel like he overvalued himself especially coming off the injury but getting a boxing bag>>>>MMA bag.

He can always go back into mma .

It's one event and a real rarity to pit two elites against other.
Fair pay to them for getting it done and congratulations on those numbers. I only wish this serves as a catalyst for more huge fights in boxing.
Ufc fans have far too many cards to tune in to week after week.

The problem is the UFC is already going in that same direction. Only hardcore fans give a shit about most of the cards and it's getting worse. We can see how empty the places often are for the prelims at many UFC events. I've been following MMA for a lot longer than my Sherdog join date and I barely recognize most of the fighters on early prelims now. Back in the day when we saw big cards every 3 months or so it was different. Now the product is often so watered down I'm finding myself only caring about the main event and a few other fights on the card. I doubt i'm alone.
yeah... I really do think UFC would be a better product if they Cut their roster by about 30% percent and had 8-9 fights per card opposed to 11-14 like we currently have. You can barely watch the fights, it's like watching 3 football games back to back to back.

When am i going to eat or do anything? Time wise it is VERY demanding. 3-4 hour shows, With less fluff would make it easier to follow for everyone. I watch pretty much every card but lately they've been losing me. Look at this card this weekend Yadong vs simon not sure that's headliner material to begin with but look at these main card fights.... Caio Seems to be a good fighter, but i dont think he's co-main ready. Who is fernando Padilla, why is he on a main card?

Not a single fight on that prelim looks appealing.

The problem with boxing is that people only care about the main event. According to people who were there, there was only about 1000 people in the arena until the main event was about to start.

In 16 or 17,000 seater that's awful. Doesn't affect the gate because people still sold the place out and turned up for the last fight, but boxing has an awful track record of promoting the undercard.

Boxing also has an awful record of putting together good undercards for major fights.

To be fair, it was a mega fight that doesn’t happen often in boxing. Doubt Spence Crawford can match

Boxing definitely holds superiority.....

The sports have a lot in common now. Good main events and nothing else to speak of.

MMA sucks compared to what it once was also.

Boxing is a giant bore compared to the 70s through the 90s. Especially the 70s and 80s. Fighters of the past were better. Events were better. There were better personalities. Truth.

Us ppv is all that matters you moron
For a fight where the A-side is British? Wasn't at least one of the fights in London as well? Bro you're literally retarded. In boxing, they count PPV sales from numerous countries as they don't have free broadcast deals like the UFC does. You MUST be a retard
