Boxing Discussion VIII

What's the consensus on the Canelo fight? Decision? Or will he put in an extra effort to stop Scull on Cinco De Mayo weekend? I can see this fight ending before the end of the 5th round if Canelo goes to the body early but it's hard to not take the decision at +150 when he may coast to a win.

Well that was a terrible fight...

Anything stand out on the board for tonight's card? I'm debating Inoue in 1-6 -110.

I missed everything on the weekend and doesn't sound like I missed anything at all

Canelo stunk it up. Promoters have been ripped off by him since GGG but fair play, he keeps getting paid to turn out dull performances against subpar opponents.

Surprised by Garcia, you cant be losing to Rolly. That's incredible

Bakole doesn't care anymore, he got a pay day. Not sure what you do now

Inoue getting dropped by left hands. Sounds like that fight saved the weekend entertainment wise

Hope everyone made $

Indeed you did not miss much. The highlight of the weekend was getting Inoue's KO/TKO/DQ line at -120 after he got dropped. Aside from that everything else was basically shiat lol.

sounds like it was a pretty disappointing weekend for fights lol. Canelo really needs to step it up; he’s been coasting for a while now. surprised to hear about Garcia too—losing to Rolly is brutal. at least the Inoue fight brought some excitement!

Anything stick out to you guys today? Navarrete struggled badly to make weight and eventually did. He'll probably be fine tonight and should outclass Suarez. I'm leaning towards the KO/TKO/DQ +100 more than the +200 line as Navarrete should take over and start rolling downhill in the second half of the fight. Is anyone backing Suarez here?

I lean Lubin but admittedly haven't seen much of Ardreal Holmes. Is he LIVE? Lubin is pretty much fighting at home as well.

No opinion on Muratalla/Abdullaev so would love to hear to insight about this fight if you guys have anything.

Good luck tonight.

Didn't watch anything over the weekend but had a small bet on Lubin ITD at +180, guess that got a bit sweaty/lucky...

The Fisher/Allen card this weekend sucks. Maybe getting too accustomed to Turki cards but that is awful

Chavez Jr by DEC at +1000 is a steal. Theres value for sure on Chavez Jr's ML as well but the way his decision prop is being priced seems particularly egregious.

JP doesn't have a ton of punching power and do we really think Chavez Jr. cant outbox him? JP couldn't outbox Tommy Furry, yet the market is giving him over six times (9<55) as much decision equity as a former WBC belt holder, in a fight shaded to go the distance? The Anderson fight will always be a stain on Chavez Jr's record but if he takes this fight seriously, and hasn't relapsed, then I don't see how there isn't significant value.

I've noticed JP's boxing career receive a lot of unearned legitimacy from the media, even legacy boxing media, since the Tyson fight. Make no mistake beating 58 year old Mike Tyson in no way suggests he has the ability to beat a 39 year old former belt holder. Anthony Pettis in his 2023 pro boxing debut beat 54 year old Roy Jones Jr, one of the greatest boxers of all time, once boxers hit a certain age even young hobbyists can be competitive with them. Chavez Jr, as long as he is clean, is not washed yet to that level.

Nevermind.

Just rewatched Chavez's fight vs Hall and he looked beyond washed unfortunately.

Its probably going to be Jake Paul by decision but it wouldn't shock me if he stopped a gassed Chavez in R9 or 10.

Pacquio odds keep coming in. 46 and years away from the ring. Barrios should be winning easily, will wait on the odds to improve
