damn well done BT and JimGunn!! nice one to wake up to after some poor luck on bellator/ufc

Guys what do you think about the Golovkin fight? Is Golovkin by KO @ -333 decent parlay fodder or too steep?

I think he will take the KO. He is just too good and Brook is moving up in weight.

I am a fan of brook thought. Why couldnt he fight spence.

GGG probably finishes Brook but something isn't sitting right with me about this one. Golovkin on a 22 fight ko streak or something like that, fighting a guy who's jumping up two weight classes, you think GGG probably gets him out of there at some point, seems pretty straightforward.

That being said I am having some second thoughts on it, firstly Brook is a giant 147, cuts a lot of weight to make the limit, he could easily fight at 154 and hold his own so it's not like he's some tiny guy fighting a giant, they're closer in size than we'd first think.

Secondly, Brook is a very skilled fighter and is one of the most skilled guys that Golovkin will have fought in the pros, even with the weight discrepancy, which as mentioned, isn't as bad as it seems at first glance. He could very well have some legit success boxing and tying GGG up, keeping him out of his rhythm here, albeit in between bouts of getting his ass kicked.

All in all I think Brook could make this pretty tough for GGG but he's definitely gonna take some serious shots in the meantime. I don't think he can beat GGG here, he's very skilled but Golovkin is just too powerful and too well rounded with his offense, I don't think Brook will be able to pull off a big upset here, just a matter of if he survives or not, imo.

Taking everything into account, I'm assuming GGG gets Kell out of there, even if it takes him longer than usual. That being said my gut is keeping me from laying the juice atm based on Brook's skill and the fact that he's not gonna be all that much smaller than Golovkin. I think Brook will have some success boxing as mentioned, he's gonna take a beating but I think he's got the ability to get some good work done, maybe win a couple rds in the process, most importantly survive for longer than most guys do against GGG. Thinking about the over as of now, depending on rd and price, obviously. maybe GGG 7-12 although I doubt there's gonna be a whole lot of value on that one either.

tl;dr - Not betting anything yet. I think Golovkin SHOULD get the finish here, but thinking that Brook can survive some early onslaughts and make it deeper into the fight than most.

its not only the weight its the gloves as well. if brook couldnt kd, let alone ko, shawn porter with eight ounce gloves what kind of success is he going to have with 10 ounce gloves? and that against a guy who has allegedly never been kd in the pros, amatuers or in sparring?

brook is going to get the same beating that he woulve gotten against his mandatory errol spence except for a whole lot more money.

great financial move on his part

Good point about the gloves. I don't think it makes much of a difference, he wasn't ko'ing GGG with 8oz gloves or 4oz gloves for that matter, only shot he has is to win a Dec by outboxing Golovkin for most of the fight which is extremely unlikely. I agree that he's gonna take a beating here but not as confident that he's gonna get stopped w/o putting up a decent fight or at least surviving deep into the fight. A lot of moving and holding can do a lot of good for him in terms of surviving.

PS I love Spence that would've been a hell of a fight.

How do they determine the glove size, be it 8 ounce or 10 ounce for GGG vs Brook or other bouts for that matter? Is it negotiated on a fight-by fight basis or is there some guidelines it follows? Also on that undercard, welterweight brawlers Jesus Soto-Karass and Yoshihiro Kamegai are re-matching. You recall that many of us were on Kamegai as a slight dog in their first fight not long ago and it disappointingly ended in a split draw. He's now bet down a bit to a moderate -150 favorite.

Welterweight (or 147lbs) and below fight with 8oz gloves, junior middleweights (or 154) and up all use 10oz gloves. Brook is moving up past 147 so he'll be using the heavier gloves this time around. I don't think it'll end up making much of a difference but it is something to consider I guess. Fighters can negotiate the type of gloves used i.e. everlast, cleto reyes, grant, etc. and I think they can negotiate the size of the gloves as well around that 147-154lb area, but I'm not positive on the latter.

Yeah we got screwed on Kamegai last time out, think he was like +190 or 200 for the first fight. Not sure what to think here now that he's the favorite. I do like him to win but -150 isn't a great price this time around, should be another fun fight to watch, Kamegai could get the official win this time around if he starts a little quicker and even get a finish but neither of these guys are worth laying much juice on imo. I'm leaning Kamegai but not pulling the trigger yet.

GGG +420 by decision. Might get better as his TKO line is only -333 so that could get bet up

Any guesses where the total rounds will be set (or is if you have the option)?

GGG r 1-6 +140 GGG r7-12 +200.

I will be on GGG dec +500 and GGG unan dec +1000

Played GGG R7-12 for 2.75 and Dec at 6.00 for 2U each, I agree this will be a tougher match up for him than exported.

i think golovkin carries brook unitl the 8th or 9th to give the uk fans something as opposed to blasting him out of there in the first three rounds. this is a complete mismatch and will be a glorified sparring session after the first two rounds when it will be obvious that a fighter that went tooth and nail with 147 shawn porter has no business in the ring with what could be a fighter that may be grouped with the best 160s in the last 20 years

in an interview ggg claimed that he carried stevens because he wanted to dish out punishment for all the shit talking curtis did so he has that mayweather level in him, where he is so good that he can decide how he wants a fight to go

i like the 7-12 but see zero value in the decision. golovkin is not going to let it go to the cards because he could get robbed and he is levels above brook for kell to be able to survive the distance

Hmm, perharps you are right, I just thought the odds were way too good to pass up. Then maybe Ill just add some on the 7-12...

the rematch opened as a pick em and the money has obvioulsy come in on kamegai. both are promoted by gbp so i think the cards will be fair. soto karass has bad skin and ironically it was yoshihiro who had to fight through a cut early in the first fight

GGG round 7-12 already down to +138 on 5D. :-(

Yeah I had a feeling it would be a fairly shitty line. I think most people are kind of thinking the same way where Brook lasts longer than most but still gets stopped in the second half.

I'm really surprised to see the o/u at 10.5 though, I thought it'd be a couple rds lower tbh. If that's not a fuck up I'm hitting the under here, for all my reservations about GGG not destroying Brook early, that's still a distinct possibility and I still also favor GGG to get the ko. If it happens I'll take my chances it ends before the 10.5 hits. Under looking like the bet for me now. The total shouldn't be that high, more like 8.5 or something imo.

Edit: proboxingodds had the total up but when I went to bet it on 5d they either took it down or never had it up in the first place. Just seems like that o/u is off, especially with no juice on the under.
