Crime Border Patrol Agent Shot in the Face by Illegal Migrant - Sanctuary City Policies Blamed

What's that got to do with Sanctuary City policy?

You seem hot and bothered about this, I'll leave you to it, you're not making it clear enough to me how those policies specifically affected this case. I'm asking a question and you're throwing a hissy fit. I'm not even saying there IS no link, I'm asking what the link is. Christ.
it can be argued that sanctuary city is why these folks exist in America, when they shouldnt.

What am I missing here?

Two criminals on a moped approached an off duty ICE officer who drew his weapon to use against the criminals and ended up getting shot.

What does that have to do with Sanctuary City policies? Did those policies prevent that guy specifically from being removed, or...? What's the deal?
This.

The story makes it clear that this was a robbery that escalated into an attempted murder. No indication the guy was targeted because he was ICE, and no mention that the illegal shitbag who shot him was somehow able to do so on account of any sanctuary policies.

So what are you trying to say TS?

Pretty simple. Both guys came in illegally in 2022-2023 and racked up extensive criminal histories since then. Sanctuary city laws in NY and Massachusetts stopped these guys from getting picked up by ICE. Multiple arrests in New York too.

ICE negotiated with Eric Adams so agents could be stationed at Riker's Island. But New York's City Council sued to stop ICE from being there. Now it's in limbo.

If NY didn't have sanctuary city laws, these guys would have already been in detention.

Multiple people have laughed or ignored it, no one has shown otherwise

It’s a tough pill to swallow. Just like crime is actually down is a tough pill to swallow. I am a program lead, or will be come next month, of the criminal justice major at a local university and I am a retired police officer. So, naturally, I am skeptical about ANY crime stats coming from district attorneys like alvin bragg(nyc) george gascon(LA) kim fox (chi) larry krasner (Philly), or several other cities that also happen to be sanctuary cities. There are too many variables and too many questions that I want to ask. I even read a study of the studies that you were getting your info on where they were unable to find a definite answer either way. I am putting in work-not to prove you wrong, but because I am legit interested in this topic. I taught a course last semester on the different criminal justice systems around the world called comparative criminal justice and almost every single country that was used as a model nation was facing serious issues with rising crime and immigrants. There are seven model nations, with England, France, Germany being three of them. They are overrun and I know nyc and Chicago are as well and it will take a lot for me to not believe that it affected their crime numbers.

I welcome most immigrants, but there are some that should never be allowed to enter or stay here. Here is my prediction-because of trumps crackdown on immigrants, crime will go up. Why? Because of illegals not working and walking/running from job sites will have no way to feed their families and will likely turn to crime to make money.

If I'm wrong I'm wrong, that's just all I've seen to work with.

We definitely need immigration reform, I'm just not a fan of the hysterics, scapegoating, cruelty, ICE and the issue being used as a political football.

I can't speak for Europe, that's a whole other can of worms and I'm guessing they're taking more refugees from war torn areas than we are.

And yeah, to your last point, agreed. Not to mention, they're grabbing people at their court dates too. I also don't think it's productive to grab people who've been here decades with no criminal history.

From what I understand some places have been overwhelmed including the ones you mentioned, I even saw some immigrants sleeping on the floor in a police station in a video and I would imagine the frustration is compounded when the locals are having a hard time getting by. I'm far from an expert but that's why I think the whole process needs to be overhauled and streamlined with more resources going to the courts and Customs and Border Patrol.

What ones do you think should never be allowed to enter/stay?

Any with violent crimes on their records and any with gang ties like some ms13 douche with the tats all over the face. And deport the ones that are arrested for crimes in the US.

Where are you? South Dakota? If you are honestly interested then I suggest you get out of your classrooms, books, studies, etc and step out into the real world where the reality is obvious. After 20+ years in West Los Angeles, I don't need to look at any stats to tell you how gullable you are if you actually believe what you are claiming.

Just come here, walk into a CVS and try to buy a stick of deodorant. These stores haven't locked the simplest things behind glass because crime is down. The change in basic lifestyle in recent years is massive and directly related to the increased impact of crime. Santa Monica Place, the once beautiful open air shopping mall is not now 70% vacant because crime is down. Locals stopped going to these places because they are unsafe and the tourists followed for the same reason.

A couple months ago an older couple pulled over in their car as I was walking my dog and asked me for directions to the "Santa Monica Mall". I asked if they were looking to buy some meth, surprisingly they said no, so I recommended if they actually did want to go mall shopping they would be better off going to Century City, again not because crime is down.

Whoa. I suggest you read my statement again. I said I have trouble believing it when they say crime is down or illegal immigrants don’t drive up crime. I suggested that “crime is down” because many large cities quit recording and prosecuting thefts under a certain amount of and will not respond to property crimes and tell people to call their insurance company.

Also, I am retired cop so you are preaching to choir

The individual is to blame. Sanctuary cities have positive intent, at least on paper but they're trojan horses for the destruction of what we have/had, liberty, civility, cohesion, unity, identity, etc...

The government needs to figure out how to enforce law while managing the advanced hypnotizing propaganda machines attempts to continue the narrative(s)...

I have no idea what you are talking about
Abrego Garcia. You know that guy that got mistakenly deported to an El Salvadorian hell hole? The Trump administration, trying to paint him in a bad light after being called out on their fuck up, posted a picture of him with an MS-13 tattoo on his hand that was photo-shopped.
