Books you're reading now

Honestly I’m not much of a reader, and if I do all I can read is non fiction. Right now I’m listening to(audible) “mans search for meaning” by Viktor e Frankl and Food of the Gods by Terence McKenna

How was it? I read all the books he had out around 5-6 years ago and liked all of them. Kind of forgot about him though.

I’m halfway through the second storm light archives book now. I’m going to be pretty disappointed when I catch up to the author. There’s only 3 books out right now in a planned 10 book series and so far I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the series
I enjoyed it, very much in his usual style but set during a parallel of the Industrial Revolution about twenty years after the last series finished. If you liked his previous books I’d expect you’d like this one.

Im on the last chapter of False Gods (book 2 of the Horus Herassy) I was expecting rhese books to be utter crap but honestly theyre pretty great 4/5. The series would make a very good big budget GOT style show and Erabus is one of the most hateful villans Ive come across in ages. Cant wait for the next one.

Ive also just finished the Andromeda Evolution. I love micheal Crichton and this was a bit like seeing a tribute act to your favourite band. Very enjoyable techno thriller 3.5/5

Current reading Dark Force Rising, the second book in the Thrawn Trilogy. It's really helping get the bad taste of Disney Star Wars out of my mouth.

Almost finished with Children of Dune.

Also been reading through Herman Melville's books in chronological order. I'm a bit over halfway through his third book Mardi: and a Voyage Thither. It's really good, but rather long, philosophical, and meandering, and so I'm also concurrently reading Melville's forth book Redburn which is much shorter and more straightforward. I guess I need that variety, it's difficult for me to finish one book before starting another.

I often enjoy a good horror novel but there are so few being published these days. But one of my favorite authors just published his new novel THE REDDENING & I'm just getting into it.

I don’t know why but I thought of this movie/gif when I saw this post.

It's only just beginning.

Mind. Will be blown.

Yeah, with 7 books left to read, I'm already in awe of what Erickson has created. It's already far beyond anything else of this genre that I've ever read. Excited to see how he ties all the threads he's already created together at the end.

Listening to the audiobook of this right now
If it keeps going the way it's going then it's probably gonna end up being my favorite book ever about the music industry
The amount of research and level of detail that the author put into this project is insane
He traces the beginning of rap music and the hip hop culture from the very beginnings of the party DJs doing simple rhymes as they changed records through the first break beat records and dance crews through the start of graffiti to the first rap records that pre-date Rappers Delight by Sugar Hill Gang to Blondie releasing Rapture and the entertainment industry slowly starting to notice something big was happening on the streets of New York and so on etc.
I'm up to chapter 21, the debut of Public Enemy, and I still got over 40 chapters to go
If you're interested in the history of rap music or just the music business in general then I can't recommend this book enough

Dont forget ICE's companion series.

Flashes out different factions and characters.

I would have preferred to read them all in the current TOR order if I had to do it all over again.

Everything would have made much more sense.

But eventually everything will become clearer. It is certainly masterful work.

How was this book mate? I like Adam Nevill and always looking out for some decent horror

So tough to find something I like these days

Did you ever read Jonathon Mayberry's Pine Deep books?

THE REDDENING, like the vast majority of Nevill's work, was awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
And, although I own all three novels, I have yet to read Mayberry's Pine Deep trilogy. One of these days I'll get to it though.

Cool, I'll dig it out.

Same here with the Pine Deep books, i almost started the third one by mistake a couple days back so I might start on Ghost Road Blues soon

Just finished Graham Hancock's America Before. Everything I would expect from a Hancock book. Hopefully it's not his last. Kind of had that tone to it.

Veterano de Tres Guerras
By Guillermo Parvex

Amazing read
Auto Bio of a Chilean soldier who fought in 3 separate wars around 1880

Author is shady though he’s been said to work with DINA (think nazi torture camp) in Chile during Pinochets dictatorship

Not sure though but just in case I’m not reading any of his books, Veterano... is an autobio he just published it
